The mares only race won by Whiteoak. Thats the best race I’ve seen in ages absolutely thrilling. Fantastic rides by Maguire, McCoy and Fitzgerald. Tough horses swung one way then the other, unbelievable race.
Did McCoy think he’d got it won close home? Hmm tough one.
March 14, 2008 at 12:42 #150867Brilliant Mate, I’d a feeling I was due to come a cropper today as been up the last two days but thats me up of for the day guaranteed…lol This is my best cheltanham ever, usually I can’t hit a sausage…
March 14, 2008 at 12:47 #150869Look, is it possible for one thread to be free from ‘i’m up x amount’ .. ‘I backed him 24 months ago @ 230/1’ ..
This forum used to be about discussing races, horses and all the various nuances in form and ratings.
Fantastic race. Thought blinkers worked well on Gaspara, and she ran a fine race. Disappointed with Sweet Kiln, but I believe she was quite on her toes in the paddock. Silver Charmer is also worth noting for next time out .. givena very quiet ride by Ruby out the back and ran on into a relatively close 6th place i think.
March 14, 2008 at 12:54 #150872Sorry Salselon , I do get excited when I get a bet up, especially as have been waiting on cheltenham for ages and am just full of beans at the minute. I did throw it up in the comp and the lays and plays today though, so am not after timing.
Apologies nevertheless, will attempt to show some future restraint.
March 14, 2008 at 12:55 #150873Thought Refinement was going to get there, good ride on Whiteoak though.

Enjoy it Bulwark – no need to apologise for being excited- it’s great for people to show emotion.
I hope you will have many more occasions to celebrate like that !
March 14, 2008 at 13:12 #150882Bullers, no need to apologise imo.
We had one great thread last year in DL & P where six or seven of us were nattering our way through a Wolver card. I enjoyed that. Some of us backed a 33/1 winner too; there were marriage proposals.
And if you can’t get excited at a race like that, then when can you. Congratulations btw!
March 14, 2008 at 13:21 #150887If this is what this forum is for, fair enough ..
March 14, 2008 at 13:26 #150889Cheers Max and seventy Four, sure why not, I just had the first two in the Ballymore (no forecast though), I threw both up on the Ballymore thread on tuesday and raised the issue of fiveforthree on the willie mullins antepost gambles thread a few weeks back. Loving it. Had two points on aigle d’or that got chinned though.
March 14, 2008 at 13:32 #150891Bulwark,
Please indicate in Lays and Plays where you tipped the first two in the Ballymore?
March 14, 2008 at 13:37 #150893I haven’t I put it up on here when starting a thread on the ballymore, didn’t put it in the lays and plays. Is that a breach of the rules?
March 14, 2008 at 13:43 #150895Silver Charmer is also worth noting for next time out ..
…which is likely to be in the Yorkshire Bank Mares’ Handicap Hurdle back here at the April meeting, a race in which she has a very decent record.
I was happy enough with her run here given she wasn’t entitled to trouble half of these on ratings, and given that her form so far this season has been wretched. Good ground and the sun on her back in April would enhance her claims in that handicap no end.

March 14, 2008 at 13:50 #150897Coral Cup was a cracker as well!!
March 14, 2008 at 13:51 #150898Thanks for the info.
March 14, 2008 at 13:52 #150899Well done Davy Russell. **** the begrudgers.
March 14, 2008 at 13:55 #150903Think the horse won in spite of Russell, not because of it, imo.
Great ride by Ruby.
One needs to look beyond a bobbing finish when assessing the merits of a jockey.
March 14, 2008 at 13:56 #150905Indeed which is why you should watch the New Alco race from just before the second last.
