Yes, I would more than settle for 4.
The fans still seem to be behind Jim. I think they know they have a quality manager for the grade.
I think the only issue has been Jim is used to working with full time teams, whereas Southport are part time. I reckon he has found that frustrating at times but by and large they have played well this season.
October 18, 2024 at 21:32 #1710168It comes down to the level of expectation, Im sure being part time NLN is a good standard to watch on a Saturday.
As for Brackley, Id never have dreamed at them playing at this level, back in the day they were Hellenic league (Oxfordshire) and United Counties (Northants and eastwards). Brackley are part time, but given the distances they have to travel in the NLN, Im sure its a bloody pain on a Saturday for the lads to get motivated.October 18, 2024 at 21:42 #1710169The KSV 1919 match just finished, lucky 2-1 for me, could have been a higher scoring win, hit the bar..(cough.how).
The KSV right back would be welcome in the the Cobblers team, seen enough of him to say he will go places, skilful lad, his name is Morten Romling..clever player. So getting back on track with just a negative -26.5 after tonights win.
And the correct score very lucky 15 has its first one in..
October 19, 2024 at 14:15 #1710304Spalding V Banbury, The Tulips have conceded 23 Goals in their 11 league matches so far this season, Banbury have scored 9 and priced up at 9/5.
Northampton V Leyton Orient, The Cobblers have many defence injuries, at are priced up at 21/10.
Double 2 @7.68Northampton’s Tom Eaves first goal scorer 2@8/1 (waited until seeing the team sheet before betting).
-30.5
Edited for not being able to spell Layton..
October 19, 2024 at 17:08 #1710366A 2-1 away win for Southport!

That is their best win of the season.
Not good for Brackley. Radcliffe were poor defensively when I saw them, so it is disappointing for Brackley they could not score at home.
October 22, 2024 at 06:24 #1710574Great result for Southport, moving nicely up the table. Perhaps Brackley have their eye on the Cup.
Hopefully the Brackley Manager will ring some changes for tonights away match at Needham Market, to see who wants to play in the Cup match..playing for places would be a good team talk.October 22, 2024 at 10:07 #1710576Southport may have got a little bit lucky on Saturday. The first goal looked about a yard offside.
I hope the good run of results keeps on going at Leamington tonight before the visit of Scunthorpe on Saturday.
October 22, 2024 at 16:42 #1710588So from Saturday, Cobbs won, highlights suggest it was a little lucky, the double was let down by The Tulips having two deflected goals against Banbury..
Lucky 15 correct score returned 3.6
-26.9 as of today with 15 still in play for the top half finish for the cobblers, which is starting to look a distant dream.
October 22, 2024 at 16:49 #1710589Tonight Brackley at Needham Market, Brackley 4/5 to win and Stockport 4/9 to win at home to Northampton.
Double 5@8/5
Stockport’s Aston Villa loan signing, Louie Barry to score first, 2.1@9/2-34
October 23, 2024 at 04:42 #1710607So Louie Barry scores first for Stockport with a Pen in the 87th min, and with Brackley 3-1 to the good at Needham Market all was looking good, only for the Cobblers to score a 93min equaliser. Dam..
Barry returned 11.55
Ongoing -22.45
October 23, 2024 at 12:13 #1710612Back down to earth for Southport with a 3-0 defeat by Leamington. Jim Bentley did not make any excuses in his post match interview. However, I do think it is tough to play back to back away matches within a matter of days, especially for a part time club.
Scunthorpe on Saturday will be the main test of the season so far.
October 23, 2024 at 15:23 #1710628Shame that CAS, only a point between Southport and Brackley now, in your favour.
Id like to see Scunny loose every game..Historical issue with the kids team they picked at The Gas a few years back in League 2.
Gas needed to win by 4 or more than the Cobblers on the last day of the season to go up, Cobbs won 3-1 Gas Won 7-0 (I think of the top of me head)..Scunny played their youth team..
There were no fines or anything dished out, but allegedly Scunny made a few quid on a transfer to the Gas which had a promotion bonus clause.Sour grapes, yes and they will always taste bitter.
October 26, 2024 at 13:00 #1710817Northampton home to Crawley, 5/4 looks a decent price add that to Brackley at 3/5 for the visit of South Shields.
5@2.6/1Northampton 4-1 2@33/1
John Guthrie normally scores a few goals each season and to score anytime is an ok price. 2@9/1 with 0.55@25/1 for the first goal.
Total 9.55
ongoing -32No Banbury fixture today.
October 26, 2024 at 14:38 #1710836Arrived at Haig Avenue for Southport v Scunthorpe. Slightly dreading it but home form has been good, so let’s hope for the best.
October 26, 2024 at 17:07 #1710861A comfortable win for the Cobblers moving up the table to within 3pts of the ”top half” Brackley, a win, by a solitary goal. No joy with the Cobblers correct score or Guthrie scoring.
Double returned 18
Ongoing -14October 26, 2024 at 17:08 #1710862CAS, whats the emotions like today? 2-1 down to 3-2 up in a minute? Great result against Scummy
October 26, 2024 at 17:43 #1710866Good wins for Northampton and Brackley.
It was an extraordinary game at Haig Avenue. Scunthorpe had the better of the opening half hour and deserved the lead, although it was slightly disappointing it was direct from a free kick. They had two good chances to increase the lead until a poor back pass let Southport in for the equaliser and 1-1 at half time.
An early goal from a throw in put Scunthorpe ahead again. Southport had not created much but two goals in next to no time turned the game around.
After that it was fairly comfortable (although it is a mystery where the fourth official found 7 minutes of extra time from). Scunthorpe had plenty of possession but never looked like scoring, while the best chance fell to Southport.
A great win which they should take a lot of confidence from. A very good game and grass roots football at its best.
