All seems up to speed now; wish I could say the same about the computer system at work!
October 1, 2009 at 17:38 #251089Well done to the gremlin busters.

Well up to speed now and working like a dream once more.

October 1, 2009 at 17:50 #251091Nothing to add at the moment about the Forum, but as an aside can I say I’m surprised at how many people are using Internet Explorer.
I thought everyone deserted IE en masse last December, when racingpost.co.uk changed to racingpost.com and the sluggishness problem that ensued.
Also Zarkava, as I seem to have a new hobby of collecting browsers (
), what is this third superior browser that I haven’t heard of?October 1, 2009 at 17:59 #251092Don’t want to speak too soon on this but I think we may be there with the clock issue. It’s been said before I know but fingers crossed we’ve done it. It will be a temporary fix until we move our hosting and then it will be sorted in a more permanent fashion.
Everyone *should* see the correct time for posts now provided you are logged in. If not, please check that your time zone is set to ‘ Western European Time, Greenwich Mean Time’ in your Control Panel (Board preferences > Edit global settings).
If logged out, the time is an hour out because it takes this from the server time, which is not correct. This issue is expected to be fully corrected once the forum is migrated in a few days to our new server.
Hope this makes sense

For info, I am using IE
October 1, 2009 at 19:05 #251104Working faster than the old version now

…and I’m using IE8

Begun, the browser wars have.

Edit: to add, the control panel doesn’t seem to be working properly – all the text is squashed down one side. I used to have a similar problem with the old site which was solved by running it in compatibility mode but you don’t seem to be able to do that with the new site.

Great to hear you think its quicker.
Regarding the control panel, is there a particular section you’re having problems with or is it all of it? We’ll get on the case asap

Thanks Matron.
I’ll give it a go on Monday, once the Turnbull Stakes, Cambridgeshire and Prix de l’Abbaye are out of the way.

It’s the edit pages on the profile section
October 1, 2009 at 21:36 #251138Sorry to be a pain but could you consider adding the ‘new posts arrow’ to the Board Index page. At present you can only tell if there’s new posts on the forums by looking at the time of the last posts.
Annoying if you have trouble remembering when you last visited the forum in question

James I am having the problem in the edit profile, on the profile page the lower half is squashed and on the change e-mail tab everything is squashed.
Dare I say it works OK in Firefox but not in IE7

Hope that helps!!!

Seconded, though I’d understand fully if this found it’s way well down on the ‘to do’ list.
Condensing the right-hand column should remain a priority IMO. I’ve made my peace with the fact that it’s there, I can even see it’s attractions, in fact (for all they don’t really apply to fairly long-standing members), but however one argues it’s case it cannot justify a third of the page.October 1, 2009 at 23:59 #251168I think it’s about time all you fly-by-nights gave the most active members the respect they deserve.

You’ll regret saying that after Fist’s had another couple of years at it, DJ, we’ll have to be

the old sod by that time the way he’s going!

I also note that a certain Mr Grayson is dangerously close to usurping you from that coveted fifth spot. You may wish to stick your ore into some of the ‘Hot Forum Topics’ with that considered.
