Good spot, Gladders.
He’s 12/1, but if someone could be kind enough to tell me what price The Big Dog was for this before he won the Troytown, I’ll be back on later to edit this with a “.” and claim I got the pre-Troytown odds with little-known Albanian bookmakers anything4chezzadotcom along with 110% cash-out and 120% cash back in the event of defeat.

He won off 148 in Ire last time….you say he only gets a 4lb penalty rather than a 10lb.
but he’s getting a 4lb penalty on his UK mark, which for Chepstow is 153 right?
Correct me if i’m wrong but that means he’s 1lb well in?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 8, 2022 at 17:55 #1626257Not sure what he was prior to Troytown but as soon as he hit the line I grabbed all the 21 on Exchange. Laid off a week or so later to cover the stake at 17 as I wasn’t sure they’d run here – they were talking about a few hurdle races and on to Aintree so he drifted out on Exchange for a while but i had a hunch they’d try Chepstow again. Happy enough to look at a small profit for zero stake, this one is not exactly a ‘gimme’ .

December 14, 2022 at 02:38 #1626790It’s one of my favourite races of the year and one I always look at and think “oooh that could run well” of about 15 of them.

Ask me earlyAnd I could probably pick another half dozen out and still not find the winner.
December 14, 2022 at 05:31 #1626795Id worry about a bridle horse like quick wave , u can’t win a Welsh on the bridle , will we get the usual bog ? , I’ve already played The Big Breakaway and fully expect him to be off the bridle by the 2nd , however he,’ll stay longer than the mother in law ..
December 15, 2022 at 17:41 #1626945I’ve got two horses I really like here + The Big Dog is already well covered on here. I’ve taken 10-1 on him.
The other one I like, who is actually my biggest fancy is The Big Breakaway. I was going to wait until the full field is known, but I’ve taken 20-1

December 16, 2022 at 17:09 #1627033I’ve always liked The Big Dog, and I’ve already bet him. I’m hoping that he’s going to make it, as I think that this is the right race for him for sure

What is that based on? She won last time despite wanting it testing and 9lb rise could’ve been more but for the easing down last time and weights were already out for this. That was 29f with an uphill finish so distance shouldn’t be a problem. Neither should the course as Sandown tests your jumping and she was ok with that. And she doesn’t lack in chase experience. Not many negatives that i can see :o)
December 17, 2022 at 16:44 #1627171She,s 9 , has been beaten plenty of times and hasn’t found a lot when off the bridle previously , she was very impressive last time but a Welsh National is a different kettle of fish , if it’s a bog then ( and there’s rain about ) then it’ll be a right horror show
