I’ll give Discordantly another go, even though the stable hasn’t won a race for yonks. The Troytown on good took him out of his comfort zone, hopefully a slower pace will suit.
Might add Captain Drake as he ran into a place last year.
I could fancy easily ten runners here. Seems like a great renewal! In the end I’ve gone for Secret Reprieve, Highland Hunter and Achille.
Secret Reprieve won this last year and hasn’t been seen since. He won it quite comfortably for a Welsh National and only a 6 pounds rise seems quite lenient. Especially with Native River in and he is running of 10-0 (without being out of the handicap) he basically has the perfect mark. Ground is similar, so I took the 6/1.
Added Highland Hunter because of the reaction of Harry Cobden after he won the London National. He and Paul Nicholls almost said they did everything to prevent him from winning, but he still won. This is main target however and he should be even better. Yesterday I already backed Achille because of his big price. Goes the distance, goes on the ground and with Hugh Nugent claiming he got a very nice weight.
