I fancy the chances of POBBLES BAY each way in the WGN. He ran in the race 2 years ago and looked like the winner 4 out but faded into 7th. He may well have tried his luck in this marathon test a year or two too early and I am hopeful that his display in the West Wales National last April ( which he won on the snaff) demonstrates that he will see out the trip this time. It should also be noted that he carries 5lb less this time and also that he has winning form at Chepstow off his current mark of 139.

I’m interested in him too – I backed him 2 years ago but reckon he wasn’t quite at himself and he ran badly the next couple of runs.
Trainer doing well lately and the price is decent.

I’m more than happy to see that Potters corner has stood his ground thus far, and I think
a fine plan has been hatched since his convincing win in the Midlands Grand National back
in March. He won that off a mark of 135 and was rightly upped 10lbs. He hadn’t run in a
hurdle race since his 6 year old days (3 years ago), but he’s come out this year and had
3 races over hurdles protecting his chase mark of 145. The first 2 he was never in contention,
the latter he won 2 weeks back, having been collared between the last 2, but ran on again to
win over 2m7 1/2f. He won the Midlands National on heavy ground over 4m 2f, so Chepstow which
is always testing at this time of year over 3m 6 1/2f will be right up his street at a course
where he has run 3 times, winning twice. I stuck him up at 40/1 earlier in the thread and
he’s best priced 9/1 now. I think he has a serious chance.

I’ve been betting Potters Corner for several weeks now, from 40-1 down, and I’m delighted to see him close to lining up.

I’d really like to see him go well, as I also bet a good amount on Native River, and it would be nice to get that back, even if Potters Corner placed.

Can’t see past Elegant Escape for this one. A bit of class and suited to a tee by distance and likely conditions.

Tight at the front of the market with money for many ‘hot tips’. Value in the other end with Arthur’s Gift (33/1) and Virginia Chick (40/1) to 5 places. Those will do for me.

    Good luck

I’ve backed Space Cadet ew at 40s. No idea who the trainer is- according to irishracing.com winning trainer interview with Cedarwood Road he only has 5 horses- but he must be doing something right with a win today and getting this horse on good terms with himself to pick up 4th at the end of a tiring Troytown. Has a better chance than some of coping with trip+ground. Being out of the handicap doesn’t bother me- in this ground a few pounds are neither here nor there, either they get it or they don’t. Only 4 places but there might not be a whole pile of finishers.

Not sure about Elegant Escape – he looks good on paper and goes well on soft, stays and is a big strong article to carry the lead…but I’m not sure he wants a bog, actually.

Yala Enki would definitely interest me- can’t forget that hideous National Trial at Haydock where he strolled home in the mud whilst everything else was in ruins, struggling, sinking and stopping- but he is short enough too.

I’m happy that my early bet with Now McGinty still stands, but I would like another one to go with him.

I have added Potters Corner as well, and I have went with the full 6 places ew

Greenasgrass, Space Cadet has always been threatening to land a race like this. It would be great to see a move to a smaller yard pay dividends.

I like the fact that he is being sent over there, so I took a chance at 33/1 ew.

only got now McGinty left from original shortlist so have added yala enki still not convinced elegant escape is as good as people think even in in a slightly sub standard renewal will need to be gold cup class to win it off top weight/heavy ground I don’t think he is anywhere near that level.
