June 1, 2007 at 15:15 #63137wonderful :)
June 1, 2007 at 15:16 #63138Absolutely f***ing fantastic.
I didn’t have a bet in the race but I was screaming Light Shift on for Henry. Best news of the year.
She looks a fantastic filly by the way, she travels, quickens, stays and battles, she’ll be a top, top filly.
Bloody brilliant to see Henry Cecil back. :cheesy:
June 1, 2007 at 15:26 #63143Talk about emotional….
Well done Henry and to his team at Warren Place
The Group 1 Flag will raised again!!
June 1, 2007 at 15:43 #63144Henry was always a group 1 trainer. Congrats. The virus more than anything did him in. But beware it can come back.
It is nearly impossible to get it out of the yard. Hope he stays clean from now on. If he does he will have many more successes.Congrats again to a wonderful trainer
June 1, 2007 at 15:59 #63148Fantastic stuff – I haven’t been so tremendously pleased by a big race result for a long time. Light Shift is certainly as tough as old boots.
Amazing to see Henry bounce back like that, and it just shows you should never give up!
Also having met Henry myself (back in 2002), I found him a pleasure to talk to, and he certainly never lost his sense of humour. Of course, another congratulations go to Ted Durcan and his first Classic success. Richly deserved.
June 1, 2007 at 16:00 #63150Hello,

doyley
June 1, 2007 at 17:19 #63152I too am delighted to see Henry back with his winning boots on.
June 1, 2007 at 17:42 #63154ARISE SIR HENRY CECIL
June 1, 2007 at 18:12 #63160Absolutely fantastic, what a great man he is!
June 1, 2007 at 18:27 #63165And so say all of us.
June 1, 2007 at 18:47 #63167A master at work ,a great result.
If you go to back a certainty always buy a return ticket.
June 1, 2007 at 19:15 #63169I’m not a huge flat racing fan, but I have to say I was as emotional over that win as any at Cheltenham this year.
It just shows that racing isn’t ALL about money and betting, THAT’S what racing’s about for me.
Well done Henry!
June 1, 2007 at 21:52 #63174That made my day. I have not a bad word to say against the man. I was cheering Light Shift on and I never even had a bet on the race. Great stuff :)
He’s seen more bad luck in the last few years than most will ever see.
It was nice to see one of his good ones do the business.
June 1, 2007 at 22:11 #63178The master is back!
He even took time to mention his other filly Passage Of Time, saying that "there wasn’t much between both fillies", something may have gone wrong wth Passage Of Time, I’m sure we’ll find out in due course.
A great day for racing and what a sight seeing Henry all emotional, well done Henry good to see you back!
(edited) – Just to add I hope he goes on again from here.
A truly brilliant moment in racing history, may he have many more.
It speaks volumes for the affection he is held in that no one has a bad word for him – even on the Betfair forum, would you believe?
June 2, 2007 at 03:37 #63184A little over the top with the great man stuff. A great trainer without a doubt. But his record as a man is not without some blemishes. Was he not found having shady encounters with Tattersalls sales? Did he not violate the rules of racing by asking his owners (in writing) to fork up extra money to pay for Lester’s rides. Was he not found by the police drunk in his car under very suspicious circumstances. Did he not foster accusations that K.Fallon was interfering with his marriage? So lets stay in the real world. A great trainer yes yes yes. But a great man I don’t think so. Just an ordinary man like the rest of us.
