I’ve changed my mind about Pocket The Packet Sam after watching Elegant Charm beat Tenjin last time out..I think he has more class than PTP and should hopefully scoot home..
My wager is detailed on Meydan Thursdsys Thread.. :good: best of luck with your next horses Sam.. :good: Jac

    Hi Triptych.
I will be watching that race with interest.
Pocket the packet is going for a fourth win in five. This surface is very tricky to judge.
I’m thinking that Blind Beggar in headgear off a low weight and mark will breeze it in the 4.35 under Theodore Ladd. Making debut for Micheal Appleby from Ger Lyons. Ex Richard Fahey and went close on last ride in Ireland under Colin Keane. It is not a great race.

    BLIND BEGGAR
    Win
Debut maker for new yard very well treated here.
Touched off by Earls on final ride for Irish yard.

    CANZONNE
    Each way
Faye macmanonman seen to good effect earlier on selfish Brian. Unique hands and heels style not used by any other jockey. Can get behind but settles her rides better than most jockeys and brings them through well at the end.

Blind beggar a very nice winner highlighted over an hour or so before the off. Case strengthened by withdrawal of rival which left him clear as bottom weight and by the draw. So would have qualified as an Alexander if the horse had been a non runner earlier.

Very hard to ignore the very strong claims of
    TAGABAWA
    Win
Impressive winner on debut under hands and heels and six pounds not a big penalty. All depends if fit and ready to go again. Did not look a strong field but one horse did stay on strongly to give substance to the display.
I’ve just cashed out. We are looking at flag starts and a changed course, which the tractor is just harrowing now. Farcical racing in prospect so no bet as anything can and will happen in the next few races without stalls

There must be tremendous opportunity for an upset here, with starting stalls dispensed with and the draw going by the bye as well.
The most experienced horse here is
    DANCING GYPSY
    Each way
he was not far behind the revenite in a class three. The track is going to be rough too so the newcomers including the favourites won’t necessarily enjoy this.
Every chance the meeting will be called off as well.

Chelmsford lost to the ice as Uther Pendragon won and King Althestan followed him home in third at 50/1 they were both in my combination tricast. So no joy there. But Blind Beggar won comfortably at an SP of 5/1.

If you use the Irish website and search for Pocket the packet. Click on the racecard and you’ll see that the penalty is what stopped him. But check out his draw and the three related stalls were 1,6 & 7. I’ll explain why another time but they were the first three home. Those runners all benefitted from the fact that pay the packet was burdened by the penalty.

    Here goes with today.
    Southwell first race
    BLACKJACK
    USTATH
    Figures421-80757309369-092896452
    TAHONTA
This is of course an apprentice race and there are varying abilities on display.
Tahonta’s jockey is seeking a first winner.
Tahonta has had to handle a high mark since a handicap debut win as a two year old off 76 but ran a near career best on first run here latest when second off low mark.
    YOURE COOL
First ever try at the trip at Southwell has won twice elsewhere at 6f but is a sprint specialist and while an unlikely winner anything can happen in this type of race.
The form with this one through level up and Kim wexler would see him winning over 5f.
Blackjack could be very hard to beat here, but all four are in a combination tricast.
    Blackjack win

    RED SKY AT NIGHT

Debut for new yard ex Fozzy Stack.

Put up best run behind mount ruhpea in fourth at cork last time. Retains regular jockey and given he ran well down field in valuable 300k auction race at the Curragh, has the experience to go well here on aw debut.

Could well be Shepherd’s delight. Should be ok on the surface having encountered heavy going and good. Not yet rated but already had three runs. Some interesting newcomers, but one or two ordinary maidens gives this one an outsider’s chance

Arbaawi saw very strong late money on handicap all weather debut and justified market.
Was very late though and forecast gained in just beating one of main selections.

    Under Kevin Stott
Overfaced in listed stakes at ascot on debut.
Having had a quiet debut on all wether, this more realistic.
Fair form in a maiden, group 3 and listed stakes in france. But high enough in the weights which have come down now…

Perfect swiss denied a clear run when favourite would have been clear second anyway as Ron O was a gambled on winner that day. Well below last winning mark and top weight here.

Blazeon five progressive and step up should suit but flint Hill has the trip, & won the turf marathon at Pontefract and will give his running.

Anif won well here before running into handicap blot Ron o. The second horse today after perfect swiss. Little doubt effort held off with that time, given Ron o profile.

Some dubious runners here and connections have enlisted the strong handling of Billy Lee at last for TACK.
Placed behind mirbhir in England and down from a mark of 75.
A bigger than expected price and no suprise to see this one go close.
