    Cracking novice Chase.
Ballyburn is probably the best novice around. But will he be effective at 2m on a sharp track on good ground? Has the advantage of already having a run over fences. Can understand connections coming here as it’ll give them some idea as to whether he needs further if it were to come up fast at Cheltenham.

On his first Chase start will Sir Gino jump well enough to beat a top form Ballyburn?

I have had a saver @ 2.24 Ballyburn because I do think he stands the best chance of ending up the best novice chaser of the season.

…Rubaud is also making his chase debut. The same comment on Sir Gino applies to him. However, it is also possible he’ll get the lead. Over hurdles he wasn’t quite as good as his two main rivals. However, it’s probably not by as much as the betting suggests – and in a different sphere… It’s possible Sir Gino won’t jump quite as well and Ballyburn less effective given conditions. Rubaud loves fast ground and 2 miles. 16/1 is imo worth chancing.

After yesterday’s Constitution Hill v Lossiemouth clash, this is the race I am most looking forward to over the Christmas period.

Ballyburn looks a machine, but the suspicion remains that he may well be better over further. His jumping was competent but hardly spectacular on his chasing debut and one has to wonder how fluent he will be if Rubaud takes him on up front.

Rubaud himself is no mug, and is bound to have been well schooled at Ditcheat, but he probably isn’t quite in the same bracket as the big two.

Which brings us on to Sir Gino. He looks like a chaser, and it certainly appeared that he’d been schooled over fences before his victory in the Fighting Fifth last month, and every time you see Henderson talk about him, there’s a twinkle in the trainer’s eye. Receiving the weight allowance, he has to be the percentage call.

Still, there are going to be safer 5-6 shots around so, like the Christmas Hurdle, this is a no-bet race for me. Should be an absolute cracker, though.

Ballyburn should be winning this easily, weight allowance or not (stupid to have that at this time of the year)

Prices are the wrong way round

Ballyburn by a distance here, hopefully paul just pops out and runs them silly

A race to watch but I am a Ballyburn fan and it isn’t a two horse race with Rubaud in there as well. Be interesting to see Sir Gino over fences after going over hurdles just about a month ago which I wouldn’t have thought was ideal.

The more I know the less I understand.

Out to 2.6 now, dont get it myself, could look back here in a few hours and regret it but it has to be a massive lay for sir gino at the low 1.8s, the substance to his form does not exist, his best performance was beating burdett road in january, mixing grade 1 hurdles and grade 1 fences one after the others not ideal

Id have ballyburn about evs and sir g about 2.2

I think if his jumping is as good as they say it is, Sir Gino will be too quick for Ballyburn today.
2m around Kempton on good ground will probably be too sharp for the latter and the 6lbs concession doesn’t help.

    If anyone fancies it
Ballyburn 2/1, with the 365 superboost now.
No bet, for me, in this.

And that is the simple difference between a 2m chaser and a 3m chaser

I think the word “impressive” is used far too often in racing. But THAT was impressive. He has made Ballyburn look slow.

    Get In!!

An absolute machine and made Ballyburn look like a handicapper.

I just need State Man now to complete my 5 fold.

Can fully understand now why they didn’t want to wait to go chasing with him

Last years 2m novices looking like underwhelming now. Mystical power, Slade Steel and Ballyburn.
