I see watering started yesterday, just an update for you(not sure if it will help
)
I live in Andoversford about half a mile from Kim Baileys and Fergals yards about five miles from course
We have had five really nice days on sun and even this morning sun already out and for the first time no frost in the ground. So the ground will be drying up had a quick walk round parts of it yesterday and good to soft is a fair enough description at this timeMichael Fish signing off
March 7, 2025 at 08:59 #1722019Why cant they just leave it until Sunday, if required? Anyway, what’s wrong with good to soft?
March 7, 2025 at 09:38 #1722021totally agree think he worried a bit as the rainfall which was due today missed( bright and sunny now)
March 7, 2025 at 09:45 #1722022And next week is going to be cold, for March. There will likely be frosts, which, Yes, will thaw early in morning, but the moisture will get in the ground. Yes, it’s a wide expanse that will dry quickly, but daytime temps are forecast to be around 7c, so it wont be like one of those 15c mild sunny days that’s occasionally blessed the festival.
March 7, 2025 at 09:46 #1722023today is the first day we have not had a frost in the morning in a week

March 9, 2025 at 13:05 #1722253Track is now back to Soft in places solely from the watering process.
This over watering is getting out of hand. If the forecast happens to swing now, we’d be in for yet another Festival in the mud.
March 9, 2025 at 13:15 #1722256I wonder if the aim is to get the ground to soft by Friday to help Galopin achieve his hat trick?
Or am I being too cynical?
March 9, 2025 at 13:35 #1722259“Track is now back to Soft in places solely from the watering process.”
It’s just unfair on the trainers/owners whose horses like better ground; and i dont mean good to firm.
There is now a threat of showers during the Festival, as well.
Today is a gorgeous day, so it will, likely, dry out again (somewhat).
Odds on they’ll be watering again, tomorrow
March 9, 2025 at 13:50 #1722262March 9, 2025 at 14:12 #1722270Edredon Bleu would be a handicapper nowadays as most track officials appear to equate good ground about as dangerous as running through a mine field.
Fair play to the Kempton track clerk (Barney Clifford) at Christmas who refused to water and we ended up with some brilliant, fast and furious racing on good ground.
March 10, 2025 at 12:55 #1722371light drizzle early this morning but not a lot clear by 9am. Walked bits of course very early and he has def but a fair amount on lets hope we miss the band of rain which could hit tuesday.
March 10, 2025 at 13:36 #1722372I just hope the heavy rain forecast by Met Office between 2pm – 6pm doesn’t materialize.
March 10, 2025 at 15:37 #1722394dont want to alarm anyone its not hammering down but the last hour we have had persistent rain
March 10, 2025 at 16:49 #1722407I see RP stating steady drizzle since 4pm i would say since about 3.30 its been more than steady drizzle, soft ground await tomorrows runners (with out a doubt)
March 10, 2025 at 16:53 #1722410Its heavy enough at the track currently nwalton😂 10mm yesterday + this most likely will = soft
Seems bananas now but tbf it was warm yesterday
