Anyone else notice that Meezaan (2.10 Newb) was forecast to go off at 25-1 in the Racing Post this morning – he won quite easily at 5s after opening at more or less that price. A bit strange .
In bookmaking patois Meezaan would be termed a ‘corner horse’
A horse opening in the live market at much shorter odds than that forecast and/or was traded at in the morning, and not drifting from those seemingly woefully short odds nor backed heavily enough to warrant a cut
One the bookmakers ‘don’t want’ hidden in mid-market
Meezaan is just the sort of lightly raced unexposed horse that tends to be ‘cornered’. Additionally it was his seasonal debut and the race was an early-season 3yo handicap. Trappy stuff and in such circumstances such horses are well worth consideration
