Vote now for the jockey you’d most like to see join the TRF Jockey’s Hall Of Fame. The winner will join the list of TRF all-time jockey greats.
Voting is open for a week and you have ONE vote each.
March 3, 2013 at 00:17 #431102Definitely Pat Eddery.
It is a travesty in my eyes that he is not already in there.
There is no justification for the fact that he was overlooked for the likes of Dettori and Cauthen in the first vote.
Simply look at his stats for winning top class races.
He could also win on horses that others couldn’t in whatever class, even up to the top level – Rainbow Quest, for example.
Never given the respect that he deserves because he usurped Lester. The best I have ever seen.March 3, 2013 at 14:36 #431154Usurped Lester Coggy? Do you mean when he took over at Ballydoyle? That didn’t have as much to do with Eddery usurping Piggott than it did lots of other factors.
Eddery’s style was quiet, no nonsense. He wasn’t media friendly either and those factors, I think, have as much to with him being less high-profile and more easily forgotten (not by me I hasten to add) than others.
I don’t think him replacing Lester has anything to do with it.
