Zarkava
While I understand where you are coming from re HGM, and some of his comments / responses are highly opiniated and sometimes could be seen to contradict but, I think you are being a bit OTT.
Reading this thread and others I think you could look at yourself around "bullying"…gold cup thread perhaps?
All – Going back to this race I’m with the FPP angle as a place only bet on thew day of the race hoping there are still the "dead eight" as think it’s an even money shot to be placed but even at 14/1 1/5 1,2,3 you are only getting 4/5 for this and just can’t see it winning.
Think I need to get myself a betfair account…so I could then lay off the win aspect at 14/1…. see tonight this is trading a touch below this price

January 17, 2012 at 23:24 #387210Yorkie, I’ve been through the Gold Cup thread but I don’t see any ‘bullying’? I’ve only made about 2 proper contributions on there.
Hurdy reminds me of a friend who told me to send a tweet to somebody after they suggested that the Premiership could lose their 4th team in Europe after both Man City & Man Utd were eliminated in December. I read out this guy’s tweet to which my friend starting cursing and telling me to call this guy a muppet and an idiot, despite it being such a tiny issue.
Simply because I’ve quoted some of his posts he’s told me to ‘FOAD’ and called me a ‘F***in lowlife’.
Why Hurdy can’t just have a mature debate and be consistent when talking about issues I have no idea. He persists on being a loudmouth that annoys everybody.
January 17, 2012 at 23:35 #387211Hi Zarkava
"That is simply not true" could be seen as perhaps a little bit of what I refer to????
Again sorry to other members for digressing off the topic

January 18, 2012 at 00:28 #387216Done an advanced search using my username for that exact quote and I’ve found nothing.
Anyway, the vast majority of horses who did well in last year’s Arkle have been proven to be effective over much further. Chris, Medermit, Ghizao and Realt Dubh have all been seen over at least 20f since then. Is Finian’s Rainbow really that quick?
Given his prone jumping errors and Al Ferof’s superb fluent jumping style, as well as Al’s Supreme win, I certainly wouldn’t want to be getting on Finian’s Rainbow at 7/4.

You are a lowlife. You came on here nothing to do with the subject at hand absolutely nothin!!!!! just to have a go at me that is all.
Last week you came on made 8 posts 6 were nothing more than cheap shots at me again and nothing to do with the subject at hand. WHY???? That certainly doesn’t even resemble mature debate. It’s like your oblivious to your own actions

You show me where I have bullied one person on here or attacked you without justification. The fact I may have been strongly pro my selections like Kauto in the Betfair and the King George and was adamant Binocular would win, Sprinter Sacre would make mincemeat out of Pedddlers Cross, Grand Crus would win the Feltham and Grandouet would hack up in the International doesn’t make me a bully it makes me right which bugs the hell out of you.
I can read you like a book a mate: a jealous, childish brat in need a good hiding who’s hell bent on causing trouble that is the only truth here.
January 18, 2012 at 05:51 #387234Unfortunately your read is well-off. Doesn’t surprise me. Hell bent on causing trouble? I don’t see any other members attracting the sort of posts I’ve been directing at you. I haven’t got any problems with any other members – only you. Jealous? Jealous of a man who started a tipping thread with a 1000 *insert currency here* bet, ending up by blowing 1.8 million on Canford Cliffs in the Prix Morny?
As for you being right ‘bugging the hell out of me’, hehe. Why would I care about that? I’m not your bookmaker. Although actually, if I were your bookmaker, I’m fairly sure I’d still be living off that 1.8 mill…
I couldn’t care less if you’re right, wrong or 50/50. I’ve had 3 bets in the past 2 months, all ante-post. Doesn’t affect me financially in the slightest if you win, lose or draw. If Sprinter Sacre beats Al Ferof and Peddler’s Cross en route to Arkle success, I’ll congratulate you and anybody else whose in the Sacre camp. That’s not the issue here.
I’m also far from oblivious to my own actions. I’m oblivious to my actions where you’re concerned. You’re oblivious to your old posts.
Congratulations for selecting 5 winning favourites/2nd favourites there at an average price of 2.8. Top notch stuff. You missed out Cue Card at 5/2, who shockingly was neither a favourite nor a 2nd favourite. Winners at 11/10, 6/5, 5/4…makes me wonder how on earth you picked out the longshot Kauto at 3/1. Must’ve been having a nose bleed during the race. I suppose it’ll be a relief to get back to sub-2/1 shots with Finian’s Rainbow?
And I’m not your mate.
January 18, 2012 at 07:15 #387235Not going to congrtulate me on Kauto at 8/1 for the Betfair? hell you’re so mean. Hows it looking at the bottom of the barrel you just pulled your head out of while scraping away. Bit dark I would have thought. Winners huh?
How about Don’t Push It at 60 for the National? or Khyber Kim at 20/1 for the Greatwood. I know it was 3 months and 3 weeks before the races when I put it them up but surely that should count?
No?
Zenyatta at 6/1 ? She was american so doesn’t count I suppose

Binocular 9/1 for the Champion Hurdle…….cant count him as I was tipped of by Fist the very first time he ran on a race course.
Zarkava I put up 5 months before the Arc and backed her every single week but then she belongs to you so I can’t claim that.
No doubt if Soldatnino wins the Betfair Hurdle you’ll have a reason why I can’t claim him either.
Sorry but that’s it I’m out of ideas. You win I’me useless and can only pick winners under 2/1.
I really wish I could make sure before I post that I don’t leave myself open to someone to make me look like a complete ass..
Your skill as a thoughtful well educated poster are legendary and I’m just an uneducated fool with absolutely no clue about racing so I give up and you win.
Best I doddle off back to my other forum and David loses yet another regular poster because of the lack of decent moderating on here that allows people like you to abuse others as you see fit.
Well done! hope you are happy now.
January 18, 2012 at 09:32 #387241Oooooh……….Ladies! Don’t stop now….it’s just getting good!
Don’t we all pick winners and losers? And aren’t there always different reasons you can say they won or lost? Does it make you a better person on a racing forum if you pick more winners than someone else?
Anyway, as somoeone who has neither won or lost a huge amount of money, I like Al Ferof for this. I like the way he jumps and travels. I think he hit the front too soon at Sandown but still found enough when challenged.
January 18, 2012 at 09:57 #387244Girls, girls, saucer of milk, table two??
I’ve only been on this forum a couple of months now, and to be honest, you have both been getting on my t*ts with your forthright opinions, and attitude that everyone else knows nothing about the game. Some of your comments are interesting and knowledgable, and even quite helpful at times, yet others are just downright demeaning and blinkered. This game is all about opinions and everyone here has them, that’s why we are here! So respect othr peoples opinions, including each others, even ig you agree with them or not.
This last current thread is pathetic! Meet up, have it out, and just get on with it! I thought you had to be 18 years of age to have a bet and to register to a forum of this kind, so did you boys open your accounts with fake ID’s or something?Back to the matter at hand, it’s not rocket science to put up Finnians Rainbow against Al Ferof at Ascot, I very rarely back favourites, but common sense tells me this is going to be a tough horse to beat come Saturday, and will be the main danger to the brillaint Sizing Europe come Cheltenham.
January 18, 2012 at 11:41 #387255Well done! hope you are happy now.
Overjoyed.
January 18, 2012 at 12:57 #387260H & Z please give it a rest, can’t you just ignore each other FFS! Your both obviously knowledgeable chaps with your own writing stlye that are usually a good read, this bickering isn’t a good read it’s childish and boring.
Back to the race, not convinced by FR, jumping looks suspect, think Al Ferof might have his measure, the only concern is backing a Nicholls horse this time of year, the old flu jab rumour has started again, anyone else worried by this or have any stats to back up Nicholls having a poor strike rate in January?
January 18, 2012 at 14:51 #387267Pants: The old flu jab is not a rumour! It is Mr Nicholls stating that his yard are always quiet this time of year due to the yards horses getting their flu jabs in late December/early Jan! Hence the reason he takes his annual holiday in January mate!
Saying that if they have runners in january they tend to get them jabbed first, Cedre Bleu won today after a lay off and his jab so I would not be overly concerned as long as the yard are bullish
January 18, 2012 at 15:17 #387269I haven’t read any quotes, but I did read a tweet saying that Ruby said Al Ferof is up there with Azertyuiop and Kauto Star at this stage of his career.

Thanks for clearing that up GDC, was just a slight concern before getting stuck into Al Ferof, think 11/4 is a cracking price.
January 18, 2012 at 22:55 #387315I’ve somehow convinced myself that Forpady can actually win this

The way races are run in Ireland (slow gallop, sprint finish), plain and simply does not suit the horse. He’s a galloper, he doesn’t have a turn of foot. The three races over fences in England, where he’s got good ground and a fast pace, are the a 2-mile chase at Cheltenham in November 2010, the Arkle and the Champion Chase. He won the Arkle and ran a cracker to be second in the Champion Chase. In November 2010, he got involved in a duel from a long way out with Tataniano, and he fought him off. There was absolutely nothing ungenuine about the way he put Tataniano away, but he was left exhausted and a sitting duck for the fast finishing Gauvain.
Admittedly, he always finds a way to lose a race, but maybe someday, he’ll put his head infront again. I’m either brave or stupid enough to put an each way bet on him at 12/1.
January 18, 2012 at 23:16 #387316Hehe. Good luck with that.
I think I’m going to come out of retirement for the 3/1 currently available for Al Ferof. The more I look at it, the more it becomes an even money shot for me, with Finian’s making up the other 50%.
Just can’t entertain the thought of anything else in there springing up.
Looking at Pady’s record, just makes me find it even more extraordinary that he won the Arkle. Incredible really, especially for him to win by a head after looking beaten half-way up the run-in.

Typical Pady sure, just hates letting anything by him
