Richard’s moral compass consistently sets the bar, I’m noticing – maximum respect.

April 6, 2022 at 10:17 #1591373I’m a light eater of meat being quite a fiend for fish and seafood. But it is none of anyones business
What does get my head scratching (in a snobby metropolitan London way maybe) is how badly so many on these isles eat. Not just nutrition but also quality. Sure price is going to be a tough issue for many but there are plenty who will chuck 50 notes away in a machine and/or down the pub and shout “how much!” At any food item that costs more than 60p
Tbe British diet as explempfies by a bloke I used to see in supermarket. Every time a tray of luminous pink sausages (20 for a quid) the cheapest white bread possible and …. Eight cans of tennents super
April 6, 2022 at 12:03 #1591383I’ve started using green lentils in things like lasagne and chilli con carne, mixed with just a small amount of meat and you honestly wouldn’t know it wasn’t all meat. And I’ve also learned to make my own ragu sauce. Got a zero waste policy so leftover veggies make soup. Any left over cooked rice or stale bread goes outside for the corvids as I haven’t have a compost bin since the rats took up residence in the last one.
April 6, 2022 at 13:23 #1591403My sister is a veggy now, but doesn’t ram it down anyone’s throat
so to speak. I sort of gave it a try, I don’t think my heart was
fully in it, although I’ve loved vegetables since I was a kid, it’s
fruit I can’t get a handle on. I’ve definitely cut down on red meat,
it’s no hardship for me as like Clive I’m a big fish fan.I also gave up on milk, started this oat milk stuff, but I wouldn’t
be without it now, I prefer it to ordinary milk. One thing I would add,
is that I’ve suffered with inflamation stomach wise for going on 30
years, but (crossed fingers) it’s been the best it’s been in years and
I wonder if milk didn’t agree with me.Anyway, I’m of a mind that whatever suits you, suits you and it’s nobody
elses business.April 7, 2022 at 00:06 #1591555I have to say I’ve never been complimented on my moral compass before.
I still think most of us would get on well if ever put in the same room, despite the bickering that sometimes (often? always?) happens here.

I think it would be like a scene from one of those ‘Saw’ fillums myself.

April 7, 2022 at 00:20 #1591562I think there’s a fair few of us with our hearts, broadly speaking, in the right place, not taking ourselves (or others) too seriously and a fair amount of dry, but essentially gentle, humour to boot.
I certainly enjoy the TRF banter.

I think this sums up the place perfectly, I love it here.
