One would only order the tests if one thought that the Sheik was absolutely clean! Like they say "don’t ask the question unless you already know the answer." They probanly thought they already knew the answer. It must have come as a total shock to the ERB.

Ironically, the fact that the tests uncovered what they did has probably made the Sheikh less likely to ever leave UK racing as it would look like some proxy admission of guilt!

Following the Nicky Henderson debacle comes the Sir Michael Stoute disaster, we need to reintroduce the official royal food taster as in olden times.The Royal horses must be protected.
There must be an investigation, who supplied the drug, how many stables are affected, how many horses were successful having been doped with morphine? The supplier of contaminated feed must be shut down, horses and stables that benefited must be stripped of honours. The Queen will have to forfeit prize money and seek recompense from the feed producer.
This must not be swept under the carpet that struggles to conceal widespread corruption in racing.Can we now expect to see Clare Balding badgering The Queen for an opinion on the matter, as she did with Sheikh Mohammed in the aftermath of the Godolphin drugs controversy?

I think if it can be proven beyond reasonable doubt that this was an accident, than its not going to keep me up at night. Its up to the feed company and the appropriate inspectors to deal with this quickly. I imagine a fine should be levied against the feed company for carelessness unless they have a good enough case to show they took all reasonable precautions.
The old it got in my supplements/food your honor has been heard before in the sports world. Sometimes its proven true

Just a thought [maybe any chemists amongst us would know] but we’ve had an awful lot of poppies growing over the past few years due to the weather we seem to have now. I assume that it doesn’t have to be just one certain kind of poppy that produces morphine?

IT does actually, at least as far as i am aware. I think its harvested from the sap of certain variety although its not (and i wont swear on this) impossible to find the seeds as contaminant or otherwise in the poppy seed population.

The problem with the testing is that it shows what you have at the time of the test. That is to say, if the horse had eaten a small amount in its feed and tested with a small amount or was it was given a large dose or morphine and that was wearing off, it would test with a small amount of morphine in its system either way, how do you know the difference? Apparently Dodson and Horrell say it is not contaminated feed.
Plus two retired stable stars and a few horses with a nice run of wins prior to the disclose of the anabolics.
Question: Do we still need HIM in this sport?
Is he the only one? Do horses need that kind of drugs? And when yes why?
