I still don’t like the idea of any country deciding that they take out whoever they like in another sovereign country.

August 2, 2022 at 12:12 #1609825I don’t “like” it and am sure the USA does not like it either Purwell, but it is necessary.
This was a man that has instigated the murder of many thousands of innocent men, women and children (civilians) all over the World, including in the USA. The target for this attack himself did not take any notice of borders.
One drone strike in another sovereign country – on a man that is (at least officially) nothing to do with the government and running of that country?
Do it!
Well done USA.
Value Is EverythingAugust 2, 2022 at 12:28 #1609831Spot on. GT!
However, let’s hope that this act is only an isolated one and it doesn’t turn into a wider conflict…
August 2, 2022 at 13:18 #1609839Don’t be naive, it is already part of a wider conflict.

I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysAugust 2, 2022 at 13:47 #1609842Explain please Purwell.
This “naive” person does not understand what you mean by “already part of a wider conflict”.Value Is EverythingAugust 2, 2022 at 13:52 #1609843I don’t follow American politics that much but don’t they have mid term elections coming up with Biden’s approval ratings in the toilet?
Anyway I’m sure it’s nothing to do with that.
August 2, 2022 at 15:22 #1609862Purwell, could this be the wider conflict you are referring to?
“Senior Biden administration officials are working with Taliban leadership on a mechanism to allow Afghanistan’s government to use its central bank reserves to deal with a severe hunger crisis without giving the former militant group free rein, aiming to avert a humanitarian disaster that aid groups estimate could harm millions, according to three people briefed on the matter…”

August 4, 2022 at 01:52 #1609956I wonder if there was a deal done somehow between the Taleban and the USA.
Al Qaeda and the Taleban are not too friendly and protests seem to be token only.I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysAugust 4, 2022 at 08:15 #1609967Plausible…
August 4, 2022 at 13:59 #1609981Taliban don’t want to make it look as though they care about Al Qaeda.
Doesn’t look good for Taliban anyway. Al Qaeda’s top man being found in the centre of their capital city. Makes it look like the Taliban are turning a blind eye after saying they would never again allow Al Qaeda to use Afghanistan for planning attacks.
So Taliban were never going to complain too much about this attack. Otherwise it would appear obvious they are harbouring Al Qaeda and therefore making the Taliban themselves once again a necessary target for the USA.
Value Is EverythingAugust 4, 2022 at 16:47 #1609993GT,
As reported by the BBC,
“He (Ayman al-Zawahiri) was killed in a counter-terrorism operation carried out by the CIA in the Afghan capital Kabul on Sunday…”
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Taliban tipped-off the CIA of his whereabouts. After all, it’s no coincidence that the drone strike had occurred at the time the US and Taliban were in the midst of negotiations worth $billions in previously “frozen” reserves…
August 4, 2022 at 18:56 #1610016There’s been US Taliban talks going on more or less all the time since the former’s departure from Afghanistan. So it is in all probability just a coincidence, Turk.
Value Is EverythingAugust 4, 2022 at 23:35 #1610050Pilosi’s visit to Taiwan.
Now that really was a USA mistake.
Value Is EverythingAugust 5, 2022 at 05:36 #1610056Can Putin be lined up for the drone treatment?
