Foreign horses have an outstanding record in the King’s Stand, and I reckon
ORTENSIA
has a good chance of adding to their record. Her win in the Al Quoz reads well in this context, beating a lot of her rivals. The only question Mark would be the ground, but she may have enough class to prevail.
June 14, 2012 at 17:21 #408101I’m glutton for punishment but I’ll give
METHAALY
one last try tonight, he’s on a pretty low mark and was staying on at Chester LTO, 25/1 is a big price.
June 15, 2012 at 12:48 #408156Kieren Fallon has enjoyed his forays to York of late and he has an interesting book of rides there tomorrow, notably
GABRIEL’S LAD
in the Bond Tyre 3 yo handicap. Lurking at the bottom of the weights and berthed in the middle in stall 12, the gelding has been a model of consistency so far in his career, finishing second on 3 out of his 4 starts and winning the other in taking fashion at Kempton. Whilst there is a slight negative about the form of his last few races, he has a good chance in an albeit competitive race.
August 1, 2012 at 17:41 #408589I’m back after a short hiatus to hopefully find some decent winners going into the weekend.
I tend to follow Mark Johnston at Goodwood so have done reasonably well backing his runners this week, and think he can do well again tomorrow, mainly with Prussian and Heavy Metal, who could be suited by the undulating track.
My main bet tomorrow however is
PLAN A
, who runs off the same mark as his excellent 4th behind Alderwood at Cheltenham. Clearly big fields suit as he likes to come through horses, which although requires a bit of luck, he has the gears to challenge. 14/1.
August 2, 2012 at 17:21 #408739Was on Plan A as well Rich, thought turning in he was a cert, but just bottomed out a bit. I’d be amazed if he doesn’t land one of the big Handicap Hurdles this season.
August 2, 2012 at 19:07 #408750Yeah, he sometimes doesn’t find too much as was the case today, but still an each way winner. I agree that he has the talent to win a similar event next season.
A few of the horses that I’ve put up in this thread have won recently, notably HEAVY METAL today, and MEANDMYSHADOW and VAN ELLIS last week, which gives me confidence. Another of my horses, CONFESSIONAL, runs tomorrow and whilst he might look up against it, it’s interested that Hanagan takes the ride. Glutton for punishment probably, I’ll be on at 25/1.
Johnston is having a sensational meeting so I’d expect FULBRIGHT to do well in the Mile tomorrow, he’s been in tremendous form and may still be improving.
May 22, 2013 at 20:14 #440428Thought I’d rekindle this thread in time for the important meets in the next few weeks. Can hopefully find one or two winners at decent odds.
First on the list is WINDFAST in the Coventry. You have to take note when Meehan has a winner FTO, and this one was backed off the boards. Won with barrels in hand and and although the form probably isn’t the best, he looks sure to have a bright future. Whether he can show his talent this year is the question, as a lot of the yards horses tend to mature over time, but I’m willing to take the chance with Meehan so bullish. Around 8/1 at the moment.
One for Saturday and I think RECKLESS ABANDON is a good thing against some quite exposed sprinters, with perhaps Pearl Secret the exception. Had a fabulous two year old campaign last year and surely can only keep improving, he’s sure to appreciate the likely fast pace and secure a big race win for the very affable Clive Cox. 9/2 generally.
