Rich: You should deffo go especially as your brother lives so close!
Not often you can go racing for free either

Don’t worry about Parish Hall, Mr Bolger can get one ready at home and if this one is as good as he thinks then they wont see him go
May 25, 2012 at 19:59 #405451Again Royal Swain shows that he is frustratingly inconsistent by not running to form tonight, shame….
I like one or two tomorrow, namely Fiorente and Gulf of Naples, but I will hopefully find one at bigger odds to carry on my decent run in this thread.
May 26, 2012 at 13:23 #405523I’ve got a feeling
METHAALY
may cause a surprise at Chester, where he has run well before. Coming down the handicap is obviously linked with the fact he’s now 9, but I think the enthusiasm is still there and piloted by Liam Jones, who I think is a great jockey, can go well from a decent draw. 10/1.
May 26, 2012 at 20:52 #405563Hi GDC – no I’ve never been to the Derby, nor Epsom for that matter…my brother lives in West Sussex so is only about 30 min drive away so may go stay at his and go one year (I hail from N Wales). Bit twitchy that PH may not fire this weekend and that he’s taken out of the Derby, but from what Bolger has been saying he should give a good account of himself. I may put a fiver on the double as you have suggested in another thread!
I tempted fate there! The perils of ante post…think I’ll just back Bonfire on the day, still don’t fancy Camelot but O’Brien seems to have a stranglehold on the classics so far this year…
Roll on Royal Ascot now…

A staying on 4th, can’t seem to put his head in front this horse…
As for tomorrow the one who interests me a the Curragh is
SHARALAM
, who is in good form and is capable of defying a rise in the weights.
May 27, 2012 at 20:41 #405741Jockey on Royal Diamond stole about 2f there with only Midnight Soprano being able to catch him, despite being at the front of the chasing pack SHARALAM could never land a below unfortunately. Will haveva week off now and hopefully bounce back on Friday at the Derby Oaks Meeting, will try and solve the Dash puzzle but my recent big field sprint handicap tipping form leaves a lot to be desired! Vow and Bonfire for me in the big two for a Highclere Stud double.
May 28, 2012 at 21:06 #405857Aside from racing for a second, I was sickened to the gut watching Panorama’s "Stadiums of Hate" this evening, which chronicled the disgusting overt acts of racism and fascism in both Poland and Ukraine, the co-hosts of Euro 2012. I really do fear for all fans intending to visit the tournament, and regard Uefa’s so called "zero tolerance" approach as pathetic as nothing is seemingly done to eliminate this disease, police and stewards turning a blind eye to the mass vitriol on the terraces. One instance showed a group of Asian supporters being viciously attacked by their own fans at a high profile match in Ukraine. Perhaps if there is a glaring example of racist abuse or hooliganism inside one of the stadiums, more so than in Euro 2004 where there were street battles between rival fans, then there would be such a media outrage across Europe then the governing bodies (especially the Polish and Ukrainian police) would have to do something about it, a lot more than they are currently doing that’s for sure.
I know this isn’t really for ‘Daily lays and play’s but I feel strongly about this issue that I had to vent it somewhere.
Back to the racing, and although I wasn’t planning on playing this week, I feel that a Johnston inmate can improve immensely from his debut run and be a chief protagonist tomorrow at Ripon. The horse is
OASIS LOVE
, and considered he is owned by Crone Stud, who have some decent horses at the yard, he would be expected to do a lot better, which I feel he can. At odds of around 12/1 he is worth a few quid.
May 29, 2012 at 20:33 #405962Hmm, fared slightly better than his first run but still not great.
I think Johnston can have a decent night at Beverley tomorrow, with a few returning back to preferred fast ground. The Hilary Needler doesn’t look a great renewal, so hopefully Baileys Jubilee can resume winning ways after a shocker LTO. Captivity ad Landaman should also bounce back.
On Thursday I reckon Ley Hunter can outshine Opinion Poll, who probably has bigger fish to fry this season (such as the Ascot Gold Cup). SMS should have CH ready to do himself justice FTO and it will be interesting to see what he can achieve this season.
June 1, 2012 at 14:42 #406253I’m a big fan of Johnny Murtagh and I think
VOW
has an outstanding chance in the Oaks. Haggas has his team fit and at their peak, and her form looks pretty strong. 4/1 at the moment.
June 1, 2012 at 21:19 #406324Lots of the winners today at Epsom making all or being prominent, which gives me hope that Johnston can have a good day tomorrow as many of his horses like to make the running. For this reason I make
HEAVY METAL
a good betting proposition tomorrow in a race where MJ has done well in in recent years, and this horse looks firmly on the upgrade.
June 2, 2012 at 13:18 #406419Arghh, beaten by a short head…not having much luck of late.
I think LONG AWAITED may come up trumps in the Dash, trainer in good form, well weighted and has an OK draw. 14/1.
June 2, 2012 at 18:43 #406485Although I jumped on the bandwagon and did the SNA/C double today, not a good day or week for the thread. HM went down by a sh and LA never involved. My attentions turn to the Jockey Club and on form French Fifteen must go close, and Imperial Monarch may continue the Ballydoyle’s domination of the classics. However, course form is often crucial so SAINT BAUDOLINO has a good chance and is in great form having beaten Sofast recently. At 8/1 he’d be my choice.
June 3, 2012 at 09:40 #406563I see Pricewise has also tipped Saint Baudolino, so let’s hope were both celebrating today!
June 6, 2012 at 18:39 #407131I’ve noticed that Gosden can sometimes fire in two or three winners on the same card, and with Tropical Beat just winning I reckon
GHOSTWRITING
can go close. Soft ground was the reason he didn’t fire last time and a return to the AW and a good draw can make all the difference. 20/1 represents sound ew value even if there’s some good opposition.
June 6, 2012 at 19:47 #407140Another one to just miss out, 4th….the racing doesn’t look the best this weekend but there’s a few good handicaps which I’ll look at, will hopefully claw some dollar together ready for Royal Ascot as it falls the wrong side of pay day for me!
June 6, 2012 at 20:56 #407150Looking ahead, I’m willing to give
MONTAFF
one last try at a big prize in the Northumberland Plate at the end of the month. Whilst his form has been patchy at best this year, he’ll be around 10lb lower than when second in the race last year and with Channon having such a good season, he could have him ready to go one better this time around. Yes, he is a bit of a rogue and can take a lot of persuading, but 2m around Gosforth Park can put him in a better light and if there’s a bit of juice, which is more than possible judging from the recent weather, it would be in his favour. Only VC have priced the race up as it stands and the 16/1 on offer is a bit shorter than what I was expecting so will hold out for the 20s or 25s which there should be in the week leading up.
June 9, 2012 at 11:45 #407466GO DUTCH
has a good chance today on ground he should appreciate. Has shown a consistent level of form to date and off the same mark as his comeback run at Doncaster last month and a furlong further, he looks a decent bet at 6/1.
