Overjoyed about the election result until I heard about Silver Streak and all the happiness just drained out of me.
December 18, 2021 at 17:48 #1573238Moe. Lockdowns wont stop transmissions
Its here and most will get it Shielding will be ok
Its mild and the end of covid
Whitty and the rest of the modellers should be jailed

Starmer should get life for failing to provide opposition
Silver streak ?????
December 18, 2021 at 18:23 #1573243Yes. Most will get it. That’s the whole point. Many will get it all at the same time. Then what? How would you feel if, eg you had a heart attack and there was no ambulance to take you to hospital or people to treat you once you got there? Or, as a covid survivor do you assume that you won’t ever get I’ll or have an accident? Are there no people in your life that you worry for? Parents, children, grandchildren? Elderly neighbours? People that are undergoing chemo, suffer from diabetes or lupus? I’m shielding but it seems to me that you’re the one in some kind of bubble.
December 18, 2021 at 20:48 #1573251“People with three jabs are still getting covid”.
Yes Ricky Boy, the people with three jabs can still get covid / Omicron but surely you can see past that simple statement. There’s far more to it than that
A) Those with three jabs are FAR LESS LIKELY to get covid / Omicron than those with no jabs.
B) Those with three jabs are FAR LESS LIKELY to get severe covid / Omicron than those with no jabs.
C) Those with three jabs are FAR LESS LIKELY to be hospitalised than those with no jabs.
D) Those with three jabs are FAR LESS LIKELY TO DIE than those with no jabs.
E) Those with three jabs are FAR LESS LIKELY to give covid / Omicron to their loved ones, neighbours, friends and people they meet than those with no jabs.. .
F) Those with three jabs are FAR LESS LIKELY to give covid / Omicron to someone of (E) who then goes on to die than those with no jabs.
Wouldn’t you prefer to be someone FAR LESS LIKELY to do any of A to F?
Not trying to make your decision for you.
Am trying to change your mind.
Am trying to SAVE YOUR LIFE.
Am trying to SAVE THE LIVES of your loved ones, neighbours, friends and all you get close to.
Value Is EverythingDecember 18, 2021 at 20:56 #1573252Time to give sage the boot
And anyone who thinks their advice is genuinely impartial is frankly a mug
Taken apart here
Earlier today I had a fascinating exchange with Prof Graham Medley, who chairs SAGE modelling committee. Here's my summary, and thoughts on an illuminating conversation

December 18, 2021 at 22:31 #1573257Won’t let me read it. But is The Spectator impartial?
December 18, 2021 at 22:44 #1573259Doesn’t have to be
Forsyths questions and sages answers completely nailed them as being nothing more than clowns
They are fiddling the models to ensure scaremongering. They even admitted it
December 19, 2021 at 07:07 #1573271Excellent post above, Ginge.
Sadly, you just can’t reason with some people… and I’m not just referring to Ricky on Covid but making a more general point too.
December 19, 2021 at 07:18 #1573273At the risk of repeating myself, I am as fiercely independent as any anti-vaxxer, but sometimes everyone doing the same thing just makes sense.
We all drive on the same side of the road for a reason and we should all get our jabs (which cost fortunes yet are FREE on our amazing NHS btw) for a reason.
Two things puzzle me about anti-vaxxers –
1. They have great respect for the concept of their own personal civil liberty and their right to refuse a vaccination.
2. Yet they have zero respect for the civil liberty of others to not want to have any unvaccinated person anywhere near them.
In short, don’t want the jabs?
Fine – don’t have them, then, you don’t even have to justify why.
But I consequently don’t want you anywhere near me.
And I don’t have to justify why either.
Civil liberty is a two-way street.
Btw Silver Streak is (or sadly was) a HORSE, as in racehorse, as in horse racing, and this is The Racing Forum.
Hope that helps.

December 19, 2021 at 19:52 #1573345Thank you, Ricky, for respecting my civil liberties at Larkhill today.
I didn’t want any unvaccinated – hence manifestly “unclean” – pensioners invading my body space, assaulting me with their zimmerframes, or boring me to death (I was probably always in most potential mortal danger there tbh) with a senile libertarian lecture, so thank you for simply not being there, or if you were simply keeping the F away from me.
