Market suggests that Fact To File will go Brown Advisory although I wouldn’t get carried away with anything that Dineen and Jennings come out with. It’s more comedy corner stuff than anything else. I don’t think either of them tipped an ante-post winner last year, and on that basis both are lucky to still be employed. Gavin Lynch was far more on the ball than Dineen, but obviously the majority of those who view it value a laugh more than anything else. Going back to Fact To File I don’t think he is that slow. That view is probably a result of him winning an extended bumper. In the piece I heard Mullins was going on about what a great speed figure he put up in that two-horse race. Not sure he would need to be that quick against the likely opposition in the Turners. Ginny’s Destiny isn’t going to hang about on the front end so very likely you are going to have to see the trip out well.

Cobden will be going as slowly as he possibly can won’t he?

The reason ginnys destiny keeps winning is getting an uncontested lead and dictating a steady pace

He will be trying to do exactly what he did on stage star last year

Tbf to dineen his picks this season have mostly been excellent

    DJ however hopeless as usual

But i doubt anyone actually watches the show for the tips. It’s just a laugh since Gavin Lynch left.

I believe dineen did tip a winner but DJ has drawn a blank several years in a row somewhat embarrassingly for him.

If Fact To File does indeed go for the Brown Advisory, I can still see Gaelic Warrior turning up and blowing the rest away.
Ginny’s Destiny at the head of the market is laughable. He’s a good handicapper and nothing more.

They said that sorta thing about Stage Star last year ;o)

I’d still say the same about Stage Star. He won an extremely false run affair. Notlongtillmay was only 3L behind and is a handicapper himself.

Surely the other jocks are not that stupid? At least one will pester Ginny’s Destiny. Contrary to what Cobden has said I think it’s important to his chances that he does lead. I would be amazed if he didn’t set out to do that glued to the rail. We don’t know if he can do it any other way over fences. If Grey Dawning can run him down, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Fact To File could do similar.

Iroko was my only big Cheltenham bet at start of season, but that was for National Hunt Chase.

Managed to cash that out after Warwick, but he did take a couple of quid of mine with him for Brown Advisory. I was pleasantly surprised to see him entered here though, and I hope he goes.

Loved that run at Warwick, but I’ll not top him up, as I’d be happy with first bet, after thinking it was gone a couple of months back

    Iroko 14’s

(I’ll delete this post this weekend, as I’d already put up earlier on thread)

I like the chances of Zanahiyr for this. I think the trip is perfect, not
quite got the speed for 2m unles it’s a complete bog. I really think he will
go here because he needs the trip at this level so I’m chancing taking the
    33/1 with Betfred (n0 NRNB)

    Zanahiyr 33/1

I know it probably does not mean much but Golden Son, laughed at by Iroko at Warwick, won this afternoon at Kempton. The third placed horse that day was only just beaten in the Reynoldstown last week.

Agree 4/1 about Iroko is on the short side but I doubt anyone will want to lay him at a double figure price if he shows up here.

Fact To File confirmed for the longer race which is probably no surprise to anyone who has watched the markets. At least he’s finally managed to make one decision. The decision looks to have had far more to do with pack shuffling than the horse itself. The horse is unproven at the trip, and the Turners looks the easier race.

It’s no surprise to anyone who listened to Mullins after the DRF

Who rides Iroko will be interesting –
Jonjo Jr rode him for his only chase start but he’s 1 from 38 over Cheltenham’s fences

It would be nice to know (we never will) if Iroko coming back from the dead was the deciding factor in pushing Fact To File into the Brown Advisory. That move wasn’t anticipated until Iroko reappeared. So you effectiveky swap a 5/1 chance for a 5/4 favourite?

Not so sure how much of a boost Golden Son provided. He has disappointed so much he went off 10/1 in a pretty ordinary handicap, and only scrambled home.

Blow Your Wad, who was 23 lengths behind Ginny Destiny, won the Pendil yesterday. Anyone who had a view that Ginnys Destiny is just a ‘good handicapper’ might need a rethink ;o)

“It would be nice to know (we never will) if Iroko coming back from the dead was the deciding factor in pushing Fact To File into the Brown Advisory”.

It has to be a factor. If JP had nothing else for this race, I believe Fact To File would be running here.

Golden Son’s poor efforts have been used to downgrade Iroko but that argument is not quite so strong now. He only won off 135 but he travelled like a good horse and might have won more decisively with quicker jumps at the last two fences. Iroko beat him by 3 lengths but how far could he have won by if O’Neill had let off the handbrake?

It is all open to interpretation but I take the Fact To File decision as a vote of confidence in Iroko.

Are people serious in thinking Iroko will win this race? One chase run on 7 November, then injured, now being readied for a go at the race without another run. It’s unlikely tbh.

I could see the angle of taking the risk if he’d been a grade 1 winning hurdler

But he’s not for me at all

One I’d be happy to let win

If I backed him and he lost I’d be giving myself the hairdryer treatment post race

Added Facile Vega 5-1 NRNB. Shorter in this than the Arkle at the minute.
