February 1, 2024 at 11:28 #1679230Yes GT, the proper Royal Ascot!
February 1, 2024 at 12:33 #1679232Marlingford, your statements are impossible to evaluate since I don’t know anything about you.
I think you could be a woman in her mid 40s-70s and you are always very polite and accurate with your answers. I’m trying to figure out why you’d mention a horse like Just So being your favorite when there could have been thousand others. Then I ask myself why would you consider yourself an owner of several Royal Ascot winners (proper ones as GT wanted to have confirmed), if it wouldn’t be true. The same dilemma applies to the remaining eight statements.
I wouldn’t want to roll a dice or throw a coin in order to determine “TRUE” or “FALSE”, that’s why I need more time. You really are a puzzle to solve…… I mean, why would AP block you? Who knows who you really are….
February 1, 2024 at 12:36 #1679233Haha, even with random guessing you might win ERL.
PS – I will answer your points on Monday!

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
February 1, 2024 at 22:08 #16792751. TRUE (NAP)
2. FALSE (That’s a place where you meet the likes of Genie Bouchard for instance. If you’d pay that much cash for a night, I’d say you’re Ghislaine Maxwell)
3. TRUE (As an owner of several Royal Ascot winners you can choose to pet any horse you want)
4. FALSE (You don’t get to win a car that easily nowadays)
5. TRUE (I’m already running out of “TRUE” answers!!!!)
6. FALSE (Why on earth would you pick that horse as your fav chaser?)
7. TRUE (I guess you beat him at table-tennis after patting Vintage Crop the very same day)
8. FALSE
9. TRUE (It has to be true, otherwise it would be insane to invent such an absurd statement)
10. FALSE (You didn’t turn it down, because you APPEAR on it regularly. Sadly, I don’t know which one it is.)Well Marlingford, I gave it my best shot. I hope you have fed all your Royal Ascot winners and are enjoying this charade…. It really is a great quiz.
February 1, 2024 at 22:40 #1679279Brilliant ERL, glad you had a go! I would love to say more, but in the interest of fairness will not elaborate further until entries have closed.

February 1, 2024 at 22:59 #1679282No problem, Marlingford. But you have to accept that you’re one of the forums bigger mysteries. And by the way, I wouldn’t mind if you were a Necker Island regular. The pics from there posted by Genie Bouchard on her Instagram account justify the quality of the resort.
February 1, 2024 at 23:08 #1679286I was expecting one of Marlingford’s statements to be:
3) I am Drone’s son.

Value Is EverythingFebruary 1, 2024 at 23:28 #1679289“True, ronnie likes a run, so maybe in a 10 km event”.
I answered True for the same reason, Landafar; but am now wondering if the Ronnie beaten was not the Snooker player. ie FALSE. Double bluff?

February 1, 2024 at 23:54 #1679295Lol, to prevent further confusion I will at least confirm I’m male, not that it matters

I’m thinking it might be another sport : IE Darts (Not Snooker)
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.

TRUE (Quite easily done, my late mum won a car in a bingo game. So did everyone else apartantly as it was rigged so everyone needed the same number)
5) Clare Balding has stopped me in the street to ask for directions.
TRUE (A chance encounter, or possibly not the Clare Balding)
6) My favourite racehorse of all time is the staying chaser Just So.
TRUE (runner up to Freddie Star Minnehoma (1994 National): A strange one to make up).
7) I have beaten snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan in a sporting competition.
TRUE ( for reasons I explained above)
8) The historian and broadcaster Mary Beard once knocked a book off of a table onto my foot.
FALSE

Why does it have to be true?
It’s a great statement / question.Has any syndicate ever had three winners there? Could be wrong, but I don’t think so.
Therefore, Marlingford would need to be a member of at least two syndicates… unless he’s extremely wealthy.…And fantastical statements which could just about be true are what’s brilliant about this competition.
Could be:
False, but I’ve owned three runners at Royal Ascot…
False, but I’ve owned three placed horses at Royal Ascot.
False, but I’ve bred three winners at Royal Ascot…
False, but I’ve owned three winners at (non-Royal) Ascot.
False, but I’ve owned three winners in a season anywhere.
False, but I’ve owned three winners throughout my life.
False, but I’ve owned three winners at the Glorious Goodwood Festival.
False but I’ve owned one winner at Royal Ascot.
Or just plain…
False, who would be dumb enough to believe that.
