….but please don’t enter unless, if you win, you are prepared to go next with ten true or false questions about yourself.
1. The first race meeting I ever attended was at Haydock Park.
2. The first Grand National winner I ever backed was Rag Trade.
3. The comedian Mel Smith once trod on my foot at the races – he was a heavy fella, it hurt!
4. As a journalist I once interviewed former Chess World Champion Gary Kasparov.
5. My father taught subsequent Moors Murderer Myra Hindley Geography when she was at school.
6. Robert Smith of The Cure was an investor in a former website project of mine.
7. I once met Ian Kilmister (Lemmy) out of Motörhead and when I asked him if his name was “Iain” with two “i”s, he took one look at my then girlfriend and replied: “I don’t need two eyes to see her.”
8. I backed 100/1 Grand National winner Mon Mome win only.
9. I have never been to Chester racecourse on an actual raceday.
10. I last went abroad (outside the UK) in 1994.
I shall leave this up until 6pm on Saturday and will give scores for any respondents after that.
RULE: As above, five statements must be true and five statements must be false.

Blackbeard to conquer the World
January 10, 2024 at 12:01 #1676820I am really interested in this quiz. True or false?
January 10, 2024 at 12:24 #1676821I assumed (hoped?) they were all true then got to the rule at the end. Back to the drawing board.
Only thing I can say with any certainty is that Gladders’ one is the most false thing that’s ever been posted.
January 10, 2024 at 14:14 #1676824I purposely put in the half of them have to be false rule, so it doesn’t devolve into some sort of one-dimensional, obscure, strange but true, brag-fest.
Plus knowing five of any set of ten are lies makes it more intriguing, I think.
Gladders just gets more miserable by the minute – quite remarkable, really, as he was never that cheery to begin with.
Many thanks Nathan for entering – let’s see if you get any competition.
Result and answers Saturday evening.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 10, 2024 at 20:49 #1676871I reckon I can come up with just enough odd facts about myself on the off chance I win so here goes, some showing my workings, others not.
1. The first race meeting I ever attended was at Haydock Park. TRUE- I believe you grew up vaguely in that neck of the woods so makes sense.
2. The first Grand National winner I ever backed was Rag Trade. FALSE
3. The comedian Mel Smith once trod on my foot at the races – he was a heavy fella, it hurt! FALSE- I filled this one in last.
4. As a journalist I once interviewed former Chess World Champion Gary Kasparov. FALSE- he spells it Garry and he’d have been able to tell you weren’t pronouncing the second ‘r’.
5. My father taught subsequent Moors Murderer Myra Hindley Geography when she was at school. TRUE
6. Robert Smith of The Cure was an investor in a former website project of mine. FALSE
7. I once met Ian Kilmister (Lemmy) out of Motörhead and when I asked him if his name was “Iain” with two “i”s, he took one look at my then girlfriend and replied: “I don’t need two eyes to see her.” TRUE- it was either this or the Robert Smith one.
8. I backed 100/1 Grand National winner Mon Mome win only. FALSE- but not because I think you backed each way.
9. I have never been to Chester racecourse on an actual raceday. TRUE
10. I last went abroad (outside the UK) in 1994. TRUE- probably to take your girlfriend away from Lemmy’s prying eyes.
