Still early days – and I don’t have a strong view as yet – but Zarak The Brave won easily at Fairyhouse today following Cougar at Down Royal on Saturday and there’s a trial at Cheltenham this Saturday.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 8, 2022 at 22:03 #1622310I was looking at that Zarak the Brave last night Ian! Decided to check the odds for the Triumph (33/1) and watch Willie’s stable tour to see if he’d tip it up – but unfortunately he didn’t. He didn’t really say anything positive about the horse other than “he jumps well” – while talking up other similar novices/juveniles more highly, so decided not to back it ante post and just watch todays race for fun instead.
Cheers Willie
November 9, 2022 at 03:12 #1622333If reading a few French experts on WPM purchases the past year he’s probably got another 36 of ZTB to come…so i’d say sitting it out might not be the worst thing for now lol.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 12, 2022 at 13:00 #1622736I was quite impressed with Scriptwriter. He jumped well and travelled like the winner all the way. He was a bit wayward after the last but it did not stop him.
There are obviously lots of contenders we have not seen yet but he was highly rated on the Flat and I reckon there are worse 20/1 chances around.
Despite winning at Cheltenham, I wonder if he might emulate his stablemate Knight Salute and be better suited to Aintree?
November 12, 2022 at 13:12 #1622742For whatever reason I’ll only back Henderson, Mullins or Elliot horses for Juvenile and Novice hurdles at the festival, just feel like they get all the best horses these days.
November 12, 2022 at 19:02 #1622832I like Scriptwriter, but I doubt if that’s Triumph Hurdle-winning form.
He needs to improve further.
Maybe he will?

Had a small bet at 50s on the back of Darryl Jacob putting him up as his horse to follow. Bit airy at a couple but looked to have a good bit in the tank. Long way to go, obviously and who knows how good the likes of Lossiemouth are.
November 27, 2022 at 04:40 #1624784Tekao 16-1
November 27, 2022 at 12:27 #1624834Tekao didn’t find much when push came to shove. Winner was impressive. 20s post race looked alright.
November 28, 2022 at 21:18 #1625044I agree Mike that winner Comfort Zone looked very good. Not betting myself due to lack of funds but if I had the cash to spare I’d happily back both Comfort Zone and Zarak the Brave e/w at 12/1, think it will be pretty hard for anything to look more impressive than the pair of them. Watched both of their wins again today and it’s very hard to split them and both come from owners who have tremendous agents at recruiting juvenile hurdlers.
November 28, 2022 at 22:18 #1625045I could be getting ahead of myself there though, will be interesting to see what Mullins/Elliot send to the maiden hurdle at Punchestown that was on 31st December last year where Pied Piper beat Vauban.
December 2, 2022 at 14:25 #1625391Surprised that Comfort Zone has been declared on Sunday having run only a few days ago.
December 3, 2022 at 06:30 #1625456A racehorse having a race just seven days after its previous one – someone phone the police and the RSPCA!
Racing has changed so much this last 40 years, or perceptions of it have anyway.
Comfort Zone won comfortably at Navan and will acquire more valuable experience on Sunday.

“Comfort Zone won comfortably at Navan and will acquire more valuable experience on Sunday.”I did. They said there’s nothing they could do ;o)
Joseph and JP had Ivanovich Gorbatov to win the Triumph. Less race experience than Comfort Zone and raced only December and February before Cheltenham so they didn’t rush. The ill fated Sir Erec, same connections, just the December and February runs also. Quick turnaround like this just a bit unusual for one of their proper good ones that was all. That is if he is a proper good one ;o)
December 4, 2022 at 12:33 #1625754Just so no one embarrasses themselves, Lossiemouth now 4/1 across the boards for this and very impressive she was too.

December 4, 2022 at 12:34 #1625757Moved over to Lossiemouth 5-1. Was impressive.
