Salvator Mundi is entered in the juvenile hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Is Mullins going to start him there? I wouldn’t have thought there would be time to give him a run in between.
I know he has had one start in France but it would still be a steep introduction to his career in Ireland and Britain.
January 12, 2024 at 11:24 #1676995Burdett Road has an entry in the Champion Hurdle. I believe this race is still the aim but if he won impressively next time out, might they be tempted by the Champion? Why bother entering him otherwise?

Owners have Sir Gino as well, so maybe SM will be kept back for this season.

Trainers do this in case the main protagonists miss the race and then they can think about it. Usually it doesn’t happen.
January 12, 2024 at 11:55 #1676999Yes, a classic “If case Constitution Hill gets injured” entry.
Not such a bad idea. Nothing else looks invincible. And it is a sign of what connections think they have with Burdett Road.

I would believe that more if they were with the same trainer.
January 12, 2024 at 12:04 #1677001Even then with State Man in there I would imagine BR would still miss it.
January 27, 2024 at 12:12 #1678684Very pleased with that from Sir Gino!
January 27, 2024 at 12:12 #1678685I won’t need to back Mundi now. ;o)
January 27, 2024 at 12:41 #1678698Sir gino a deserving favourite
That was some performance
One of the best juveniles iv seen in recent years
Nicky worked wonders with his jumping between runs
January 27, 2024 at 17:05 #1678848If we take the form literally, then Sir Gino should be tried on the Flat; beating a 100+ rated Flat horse like that…..which makes me think that wasn’t the real Burdett Road.

Or simply that 10f Flat handicaps at Newbury and Ascot are a very different discipline to 2 miles in a graded hurdle over the undulations of Cheltenham. You could see the physical difference today- Burdett Road is a butty little Flat horse who has probably reached his hurdling peak already, Sir Gino is still light and leggy.
January 27, 2024 at 17:55 #1678860Burdett road didn’t stay in a strongly run race
Not surprising really he failed to get home over 1m4f on the flat

How many horses coming from the UK/Ire flat win at the Cheltenham Festival compared those from France and point to points? I’ve always liked the latter more, I am usually wary of the former being the best as not many in the modern era seem to manage that sort of success compared to the former my memory is telling me.
January 28, 2024 at 16:21 #1678998I never really understand this flat rating stuff. If you believe in that then High Definition should have been a certainty in last years Supreme given he was rated 119 at his peak, much better calibre of horse than Burdett Road, but he couldn’t jump hurdles very well and probably didn’t stay 2M over hurdles at the top level and some of that applies to Burdett Road too.
FWIW Sir Gino was quicker than Lossiemouth yesterday carrying more weight then her. Suspect the International Hurdle turned into a bit of a sprint and she was just cantering after the last but its still some going for a juvenile to beat that race carrying more weight. It’ll take a good one to lower his colours come March you suspect.
January 29, 2024 at 21:21 #1679079I’m very late for Cheltenham bets this year, but my first call is Bunting 10-1 non runner no bet
January 30, 2024 at 20:59 #167913311/8 Sir Gino NRNB with Paddy Power is fair (if you can get on) considering he’s IMO unlikely to run again before the day, he’s 6/4 best, all in, run or not, and he could be odds-on by Sunday night unless something’s won the big 4yo hurdle at Leopardstown by the length of the home straight.
This animal is bomb proof on form as his devastating credentials were displayed over the very Triumph course and distance.
Only quicker ground would worry me and that’s unlikely as they will turn the sprinklers on the instant the Sun comes out between now and the day.
