    Cheers Wilson.

    That’s a solid pick.

Not in any of my singles and accas unfortunately.

If someone offered you a free bet in the race, would you turn them down ?

Laying off here does just that – gives you a free bet.

I’m with Lee on this one, it diminishes the excitement and anticipation of ante-post punting. I’ve got many great vouchers such as The Fly at 6s, Salsify at 10s, Empiracle at 25s, but also a few turkeys. Let them ride and hope for the big win, or throw a couple of quid on some market rivals as an alternative.

What everyone seems to forget about laying off and makes me suspect as to how many actually bother is that you need to have the capital tied up your account, ie if he’s had £50 on at 16s, and wants to lay off at half the odds, thats £400 to set aside.

    Not that easy is it?

I’m talking about laying your stake off. If you’ve backed the horse at 14’s and he’s now 9/4….

You can’t lose assuming you’re on NRNB

Yep, fair point, mine was about laying off in general as it’s pretty rare to be holding 16s about a 2/1 shot.
I’ve got double current price on a fair few fancies, however if i was to lay them all off i’d be looked at depositing a fair old wedge into Betfair account.

    Welcome Jenno,

you should stick your selections up for the nominated races so far, and that’s you in the comp……..times running out. Assuming, of course, Blunkett can handle/allows more entrants

My selection for Supreme – Pique Sous 1pt ew @ 20’s (Coral, 365, PP)

Thanks Venture, will do just that.

2pts win Saphir Du Rheu Fred winter, generally 20s
1pt ew Divers Byrne Group, Generally 20s
    1pt ew Pique Sous Supreme,Generally 20s

I would add that finding value at Cheltenham is possible but this year appears to be doubly difficult as you get the value but it appears the top 3 trainers have such a high percentage of the "quality horses" that you also have to contend with getting the right race to target. This year appears to be even harder than previous ones

Think you’re still missing the point Jenno. You have to select horses in the races Pricewise chooses.

So far we’ve had Gold Cup, Champion Chase, Champion Hurdle, Arkle, World Hurdle, RSA and Supreme.

He hasn’t tackled the Byrne Group or Fred Winter yet (and possibly won’t until the weights are out around the end of month).

Sorry I missed the point Wilson and I will take more care next time, but I hope some members did get on Saphir at 20s for the Fred Winter, appreciate there is a long way to go but getting a bit of value from our bookie friends is part of the fun

Interested to know who you got the 20s with as according to Oddschecker history that price was long gone.

Has Nicholls tipped the horse up – noticed several of his have been punted for the handicaps recently. Comments earlier in the season might have led you to believe Saphir wouldn’t be going to Cheltenham.

    Hi Stilvi

I took the 20s with VC bet 27/01/13 at 21.39 on a NRFB basis. The reason for the bet was as indicated on a previous post as I find Trainers are "creatures of Habit" and if they have a tried and tested route they tend to stay with it, and it worked with Sanctuare.Yes its a gamble but the bet was a NRFB.You are right with regards the price has now long gone.Only trying to point people in the right direction, nothing more.

Have been away for a week or so and abit behind with all things racing. It appears that i’ve only missed the Supreme in regards to the thread.

So basically, i’m in the MTOY’s camp. Have been for some time and taken 20/1 about the curtain raiser. I’ve even managed to get 66/1 to become next years Champion Hurlder. Yes that NEXT YEAR if you are reading Mr Henderson

Anyway, i’ve missed the value for the basis of this thread so i’ll go with:-

Melodic Rendezvous 1 pt EW @ 10/1 (sporting bet)

Think this fella is game as a pebble and a top chaser in the making.

Ryanair – so many doubts about the contenders actually running therefore i’ll stick with proven course form :

    Champion Court – 1pt EW 12/1 Ladbrokes.

Hopefully his latest run was a sighter for the big day.
