Regarding the horse performing in this country – another reason why i would rather back SDC than Flemenstar at the prices.
Two trainers who are eons apart when it comes to preparing horses to race in this country / Cheltenham.January 9, 2013 at 19:58 #425786Mouse seems full sure he’ll run in the Gold Cup so I think your cash is probably safe enough. Out of interest Ginger, what sort of chance would would you give First Lieutenant in the Ryanair?
What did Mouse have to say about the Gold Cup THM? Must have missed it. Although am always skeptical about what trainers say, especially when they’ve come out with comments before and (on the face of it) reversed them.
Sorry Ginger can’t find the exact quote now, but I’m fairly sure I read a quote form Mouse saying the Gold Cup is the target and he’ll go straight there.
At the end of the day Gigginstown are the owners and although Mouse might be able to influence them somewhat, they will ultimately make the decision.
January 11, 2013 at 12:17 #4259526/1 WH is too short. But the 12’s is obviously only available because he’s a doubtful starter. Sadly not one that’s quoted in their "To win at the Festival" market.
I got on to Hills, Ginge, after getting a price for FL in the ‘any race’ market, and they’ve now put it up on their website @11/2.
Anyone have any ideas which is the next race Pricewise will be going for Tuesday?

Hold fire! Paddy Power have opened the same market and have him @7s
January 12, 2013 at 22:01 #426111Many thanks for the replies, I’ll collate selections tomorrow when I’ve got a bit more time.
Next Tuesday its the Champion Chase, so God knows what Our Man will tip. It’s a no bet race for me, nothing will finish within a furlong of Sprinter Sacre. The only possible angle is to find something at a largish price that will actually turn up, then hopefully the field cuts up and plenty head to the Ryanair avoiding SS, leaving us with a fair chance of copping the place.
Following this lead and taking a wild stab in the dark:
Kumbeshwar 1pt e/w 50s with Power.
January 12, 2013 at 22:13 #426113I agree, slightly unusual one to get involved with as there’s only one winner but at far too short a price to tip antepost. The others at the head of the market just in behind him are surely more likely to go for the Ryanair so I’ll have to plump with……..
Sanctuaire 1pt ew @14/1 with VC.
His initial run in the Tingle Creek was surely an exaggerated front running display, trying to run the puff out of Sprinter Sacre which backfired miserably. His win since has shown his class, albeit not in the same league as the Henderson horse, and that along with his previous festival win would have to make him decent enough value for a place.
January 12, 2013 at 22:51 #426115I’m happy to take a 1pt profit, it might be the only one I get….

Sprinter Sacre 2pts win 1/2 Paddy Power and others.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 13, 2013 at 21:09 #4262151pt each way Wishful Thinking at 50’s in place
January 14, 2013 at 10:48 #426249Sprinters to lose of course but I’ll go;
Sanctuaire 1 point e/w 12/1 (various).
January 14, 2013 at 13:03 #426264Ryanair Chase
1 point win China Rock 33/1 (Stan James)Value Is EverythingJanuary 14, 2013 at 13:41 #426268China Rock didn’t seem to stay in the Gold Cup last year and has been backed on the exchanges at even better than 33’s (by me amongst others). Suggests they’re favouring the Ryanair this year. Rushed up to take up the running around the turn in the Lexus on reappearance (going reasonably well). But again did not get home due to fitness or stamina. Seemed to get the trip well in Grade 1 Punchestown Gold Cup (3m1f Heavy) last spring, but that wasn’t so strongly run. Winning by 5 lengths from Follow The Plan (who’d won Betfair Bowl on his previous start) with 6 1/2 back to the third. China Rock’s other form doesn’t quite measure up; however a tongue strap was only applied for those two races, so there’s every chance it does not flatter him.
Travels well in his races at 3m+ so should still be fully effective at 2m5f, I believe possibly be more so in a truly run race. Beaten just a neck for 3rd behind Michael D’Haguenet in 2m5f novices hurdle at the Festival. And 4th to Copper Bleu in Jewson Novices Handicap Chase under 11-3. Goes equally as well on very soft or good ground (has a fluent action).
Of course there are potential rivals with a better chance but wouldn’t need to improve a great deal so 33/1 seriously under-estimates his chance (imo).Value Is EverythingJanuary 14, 2013 at 15:30 #426277thanks to blunkett for running this was good fun last year.
Gold Cup – not a great race this year imo, pretty difficult to find value in market, Bobs worth wrothy favourite but will be similar price on the day.
Ill go for
Long Run 2pts
7/1 horse (and jockey) takes a fair bit of stick probably some deserved, but he has 2 King Georges and a Gold Cup must be doing something correctly
Champion Chase – Sprinter Sacre wins.
1pt EW Sizing Europe 8/1
(laddies) play for the place money in most probability
thanks
January 14, 2013 at 20:15 #426311So Segal goes for William’s Wishes e/w and the odds tumble immediately.
Not for me personally as although I think he horse could be very good, he might not run – Bet Victor (with the NRFB concession) are straight into 16s from 25 and even if he does run, he’s running for 2nd or 3rd and with the likes of Sizing Europe, Sanctuaire etc that could be tough.
I’ll go for Sizing Europe 1pt e/w at 8s freely available.

January 14, 2013 at 20:31 #426315Sprinter Sacre is obviously the most likely winner but at the odds he’s not an ante-post bet for me. Flemenstar is probably more likely not to run than run so he’s another I’m passing over.
I toyed with nominating
Williams Wishes
for this as he’s looked very good his last couple of runs. He’ll need to improve again but the race could cut up a fair bit and I wouldn’t put anyone off an ante-post bet (each way of course).
Finians Rainbow would be interesting if he runs but the Ryanair is another option for him. I’d be inclined to rule out his last run on ground which didn’t suit. That being said, it seems the stable are confident Sprinter Sacre is well ahead of him and I wouldn’t be at all sure he’d beat Sizing Europe again.
Cue Card is another who looks unlikely to run but should he run I think he’d be at least half the price he is now. He ran a great race in the Arkle last year finishing as close to Sprinter Sacre as anything has over fences.
I’m opting for the old warrior
SIZING EUROPE
. He has been blessed with amazing longevity and seems as good as ever this season. If he runs as I expect he will, he’s an each way bet to nothing and perhaps the only horse in the capable of turning over the favourite.
Queen Mother Champion Chase
Sizing Europe
1pt e/w @ 8/1 (various)January 14, 2013 at 20:36 #426316Gold Cup
Bobs Worth 2pt win 3/1 Paddy PowerQueen Mother Champion Chase
Sprinter Sacre 2 pt win 1/2 BoylessportJanuary 14, 2013 at 20:37 #426317Can’t see Sprinter Sacre getting beat so 2pts win at 1/2
January 15, 2013 at 13:26 #426368Sprinter a very worthy fav but not my kind of price so has to be:
Sanctuaire – 1pt e/w Paddy Power
