I just want to say I am genuinely so proud that a thread I was Original Poster of has apparently done so well in the annual vote here.
I thought while constructing the “big race” that this was becoming my all-time Internet Forum “Magnum Opus” and I put everything I believed to be good about my writing and my recollections of the Grand National into it for an audience that deserved it and would appreciate it, picking up on every nuance.
But it was by no means a one-man thread.
Many entered into the spirit of it and there were a host of clever, often hilarious, other contributions.
I like to think it encapsulated everything that is good about TRF.
The phenomenal Bachelors Hall, with his relentlessly brilliant Juvenile Hurdlers thread, is the rightful moral winner of this vote – for his work is serious stuff, whereas this thread was idle fun.
But I’m proud just the same.
Thank you everyone who contributed to the thread and thank you everyone who voted for it.
And thank you David and his great moderating team (all voluntary) for running the vote and continuing to run this great free website.
It’s got my 2022 off to a smiling start.

Bachelors Hall’s thread is astounding, and it feels inappropriate to compare the two where they are so different in nature. Perhaps there should be separate categories for racing threads and non-racing (i.e. lounge) threads.
I suggested this thread of the year 8 years ago and was very disappointed to seeing Red Rum dying all over again because of me.
Bachelor’s is a wonder of the world but he got the prize last year. Ian excelled with his dictator thread. I would have put everything on Hitler if I could and he didn’t let me down. Yes extremely well told by, might I call him the professional there is only. I’m in his cult and he was looking a long time like the Poster of the year but bagged a nice silver cup to put next to the biscuit tin.
There is a lot more gas in Davies if he chooses to write on.Can someone tell me where I can find the juvenile hurdlers thread please? I did look for it but couldn’t find it. Sometimes I miss really great threads eg I only recently discovered Meydan Thursdays. Thanks in advance.

Moe I noticed you had the power and presence of mind to kill this thread with a kind word. The fact you put a full stop after your word Thanks also brought a finality to it.
Six letters and a full stop that may be a deadly record breaker. ( Not now because I have added a post )As you know I have a fascination for finding one post threads. Generally though I am also interested in the ending post.
