Good grief Jeremy – Salisbury? Don’t forget you have to actually go past Larkhill to get there – I don’t want you getting distracted and thinking you have to stop on the way

It is a pretty nice place to spend an evening racing – if you actually want to watch the racing I recommend the very top of the grandstand for any races using the loop, although it is one heck of a climb and well short of the finishing line.
I will be at Sandown on Saturday, which will hopefully be an antidote to Thirsk tonight and Catterick tomorrow.
Plus will also be in sticky toffee pudding land on the 17th having missed my usual visit at the Spring Bank Holiday weekend – the only course that Mrs O insists on accompanying me to, although I think it probably has more to do with the village and what is on offer in the village store than the actual racing.
July 1, 2008 at 10:52 #171130Is this the end of the road for our favourite follower of low grade NH racing, has he turned over a new leaf??
Surely not.
No, not at all!
I’ve just got a couple of weekday evenings this week on which Mrs Column is busy (her band has two gigs later this month to rehearse for), and these late-starting summer evening meetings have briefly thrown up the possibility of taking in some racing after work. I was at Windsor last night (as two other TRFfers will confirm), and I can just about get from Chesham to Salisbury on Friday in time for the opener as well.In addition to which, I’ve owed Cormack some pieces of writing for absolutely ages, but all of my jumps-oriented stuff either goes on my blog or to one of my employers. With any luck I’ll have something knocked up for both of this week’s trips – plus whatever other ones I take hereafter – and sent in for his kind consideration sooner rather than later.
Redcar looking likely now on Thursday with a visit to sticky toffee pudding country on the 17th now a confirmed runner.
I’m missing Cartmel on the 17th, GD – Mrs Column and I will be on our way to the Latitude music festival on the Suffolk coast! We’ll resist making a detour to take in the estimable charms of Yarmouth the following Monday, I think, as we’ll be tired, hungover and unbearably scrofulous by then, I don’t doubt.
I’ve no further plans to go racing in July after this week as yet – radio commitments and two long weekends at music festies are dominating my immediate schedule somewhat.

July 1, 2008 at 12:27 #171157I considered confirming that GC was at Windsor ~ but who would have believed me?
July 4, 2008 at 16:03 #171720The trip to Salisbury looks to be off, alas – they found all sorts wrong with GraysonsMicra during her service yesterday (a distinct lack of brake discs and fluid being the most obviously worrying), and she’s still being worked upon as we speak.
Do you know what? I actually find myself feeling a little disappointed by this outcome. Really really. Ah well, let’s see if I can’t get somewhere this weekend instead…

Go and have a lie down, Graysons. You are clearly suffering from some form of dementia, if you are disappointed at missing out on Salisbury.
PS. Sorry about the brake-pipes – it was for your own good.

. We always worked to 106.8% for four-runner races at the Sprotsnam – at this remove I can’t for the life of me remember why.gc
