I don’t follow the all weather but noticed a horse today called Tremblant. Am i right in thinking there was a horse called that in the 80s trained by Ron Smyth and owned by Khaled Abdullah?

January 3, 2024 at 14:05 #1676160You are indeed correct, jumpsfan.
Unraced at two, Tremblant won four handicaps at three and ended up with a Timeform rating of 88. He improved the following season and again won four handicaps, culminating in an easy success in the Cambridgeshire and a TF rating of 112. Stepped up to Group company as a 5yo, he failed to win again but ran with credit in the Hungerford and September Stakes, amongst others. He retired to stud in Oxfordshire with a final TF rating of 110.

January 3, 2024 at 15:08 #1676166It’s funny how every time a horse runs with a name from yesteryear, the previous incarnation comes flooding back. We had a thread on it before- it’ll be somewhere in the ether.

January 4, 2024 at 10:07 #1676203The other day a horse called Beat the Retreat ran and it transported me back to my earliest racing memories when I am sure a juvenile hurdler of the same name ran up a sequence for John Jenkins, I am sure he had two that did the same that year.
At the time I thought John Jenkins was a genius and then I spent a few weeks during my school holidays working there and my opinion altered.

January 9, 2024 at 06:24 #1676725Both Tremblants ran for Judmonte so must have run out of naming ideas .
Ive notice Shadwell repeat names a bit , they even had a horse in OZ called Fanaar and a horse in UK same time called Fanaar abput 4 years back .January 10, 2024 at 01:14 #1676800Looking up both Fanaars , one won in UK March 2019 and other ran 6th in OZ 5 days later in same colours .Both same age and both still in training but moved on , UK Fanaar ran in Abu Dhabi 4 weeks back and the OZ one enteted in Outback on Friday .
