I don’t follow the all weather but noticed a horse today called Tremblant. Am i right in thinking there was a horse called that in the 80s trained by Ron Smyth and owned by Khaled Abdullah?

    You are indeed correct, jumpsfan.

Unraced at two, Tremblant won four handicaps at three and ended up with a Timeform rating of 88. He improved the following season and again won four handicaps, culminating in an easy success in the Cambridgeshire and a TF rating of 112. Stepped up to Group company as a 5yo, he failed to win again but ran with credit in the Hungerford and September Stakes, amongst others. He retired to stud in Oxfordshire with a final TF rating of 110.

Many thanks, it’s amazing what sticks in the memory that you don’t have to Google.

It’s funny how every time a horse runs with a name from yesteryear, the previous incarnation comes flooding back. We had a thread on it before- it’ll be somewhere in the ether.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

The other day a horse called Beat the Retreat ran and it transported me back to my earliest racing memories when I am sure a juvenile hurdler of the same name ran up a sequence for John Jenkins, I am sure he had two that did the same that year.

At the time I thought John Jenkins was a genius and then I spent a few weeks during my school holidays working there and my opinion altered.

Both Tremblants ran for Judmonte so must have run out of naming ideas .
