Amazingly my transfers went ahead smoothly but I did them on the first day..all I can think of is that lots of folk left it late because of withdrawals and the site has gone down.

I did put in Energumene but only in one of my 3 stables luckily the lowest scoring .. my transfers IN were Chacun Por Soi and Monkfish. :good:

Good luck to everyone and thanks for doing this Graham. Jac :good:

Thanks Big G. I managed to create a Cheltenham stable by using a different browser and, finally, have managed to make transfers just now. Why the transfer button didn’t appear in any of the many times I tried it previously (yesterday and today) I don’t know. Perhaps, as Triptych suggests, the site can’t handle the traffic. Meanwhile, I tried to join our league using the existing code and am now a member of a completely alien one which I don’t seem to be able to leave. That is just a minor irritation and they might boot me out anyway when they realise I’m an intruder! I don’t know why Tote can’t make their website a bit more user-friendly and robust. It certainly puts me right off ever using them for anything important – like actual betting with money!

    Good luck everyone.

    Week 18 Update

Nothing to see here, move along, move along  That sums up last week
with no points scored and it’s as you were in the league. It wasn’t surprising
with it being the week before The festival, and it was disappointing that Green’s
Wildcards double, Marie’s Rock and Lamanver Pippin, the
only 2 runners last week, didn’t work out with MR withdrawn and LP PU.

    Tuesday

This week is a different kettle of fish and most of the runners in the league have
been pitched into battle. Those that have Appreciate It in the Supreme must
surely be counting up their points already. He looks the likliest to lead them home,
although there are a few that are hoping Ballyadam can turn around their previous result at Leopardstown. I can’t see it myself, but Cheltenham isn’t Leopardstown and Ballyadam won’t be lacking for stamina.

Shishkin has been quite a few’s idea of a banker for some time. He does
look like he has it all and is going to be hard to beat. I’ve had an E/W antepost
on Allmankind, 28/1, from some time back. If he gets into his stride
and bowls along in front he won’t be easy to peg back. I’m more hopeful of the
place, but it’s Cheltenham and Shishkin’s only run there was the one that saw him
just hang on to beat Abracadabras by a head so I’m not giving up hope yet.

The Champion Hurdle has turned into possibly the hottest race of the meeting.
Honeysuckle, Goshen and Epatante all bring top class form to the table but I’m not so sure they will get it all their own way. I think
the run of Silver Streak is being overlooked, despite him getting the
better of Epetante last time. Throw Aspire Tower and Abracadabras into the
mix and it’s a hot renewal.

The Close Brothers Mares Hurdle, league wise, hav one horse and 3 supporters of it
in Concertista. She’s best priced 11/8. I’m not a backer of short prices
in general, but I think that’s big for what I consider as near to a banker as you can
have at The Festival. Nathan, Neil and Wildcards will be hoping I’m right.

    Wednesday

In the Ballymore, the only one in the league that’s latched onto the favourite,
Bob Olinger is Michael Walsh (unless any late transfers made). He is
going to have a bit of competition from Gaillard Du Mesnil but I’d rather be
    in Michael’s camp than GDM.

Surely the RSA (or whatever it’s called now) is all about one horse in Monkfish. He hasn’t put a foot wrong yet and although I’ve got a notion
for an E/W on Dickie Diver at 20/1, I can’t see past Monkfish.

Plenty of interest in the league in the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Charcun Pour Soi gets the most votes with Greaneteen, Nube Negra and Politologue also of interest. I don’t have him in my stable, but I was
impressed with Sceau Royal who travelled really well and got the better of Champ
over a distance too short for him, but it was still a solid run. I’ve taken the
20/1 with William Hill (in ante post thread) but 18s is the best about now.

Easyland and Tiger Roll have their supporters in the league and it could
be down to either of them in the X-Country Chase. Although it’s normally too
risky a race for me to take a hand in, I think Kingwell Theatre is overpriced
at 33s and I’ve added that to my ante post list.

The Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the end of the day has just the one of
interest league wise and it’s Sir Gerhard who was well spotted by Middle
Of March. He’s unbeaten and hardly had to break sweat in his PTP and both
his NHF races. He looks like the proverbial Festival “monster”

    Thursday

The Marsh Novice Chase is surely just a saunter for Envoi Allen who has
a huge following in the league. Green’s Wildcards will be pleased that Blackbow doesn’t have to face Energumene again, although it’s
a case of out of the frying pan into the fire now he has to take on EA.

The Ryanair has Chacun Pour Soi still entered, but presumeably he’ll have run
on Wednesday, so it leaves a relatively open race with stable fancies Allaho,
Fakir Doudairies, Melon, Min and Saint Calvados
to name just a few in with
    excellent chances.

The Stayers will unfortunately be without Thyme Hill which perhaps opens this for
Paisley Park. Plenty of support in the league for him and
the odd one or two for Sire Du Berlais, Vindication and If The Cap Fits.
I think Paisley Park’s biggest threat is from none of these but from Flooring Porter who looked hugely impressive winning the Christmas Hurdle at
    Leopardstown.

    Friday

The 2 that are most relied on in the Triumph are Quilixios and Tritonic.
I’ve been a fan of Quilixios from his early days, but the recent runs of
Tritonic look top notch and I’m not as sure of a win as I was a couple of
months back. I think they are both going to turn out to be well above average.
The f/c wouldn’t be the daftest idea :good:

I’m not so sure that Al Boum Photo is up to taking this for a third
time. I’m not so sure who will take it anyway, it’s a pretty open Gold Cup. With
A Plus tard and Royalle Pagaille perhaps surprisingly throwing their
hats into the ring along with the likeable and dependable Frodon
and Santini, who you feel should have done better than he has but
he has potential. I think that Champ, who was runner up in the Ballymore
2 years back and then won the RSA last year, is the one that can take this. There’s
plenty of 9/2 about at the moment, but I can see him going off about 3/1 on the day.

There’s only 1 that features in the later races and that’s Elimay
who both 10 To Follow and Green’s Wildcards have in the Mares Chase. I think she’s
got a great chance to take this and have 2 stables that drastically need points given
    a leg up the league.

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone’s horse, there were quite a few to dig out there.
It’s been a God awful year and hopefully the festival can boost our morale.

Best of luck everyone and hopefully we can all make a shilling or two, and
more importantly here’s hoping they all come home safely :good:

I’ll post the league again, just for reference, but it’s the same as last week.

Thanks Jac :good: It’s a pity about Emergunene, but at least he
was only put into your lowest scoring stable. Chacun Pour Soi and
Monkfish have terrific chances, it’s hard to see them getting beat.

    Week 19 Update

This was always going to be the week that saw some really high
scoring, and with most of the big guns living up to their name
that’s the way it turned out. The three that have been leading the
way for some time didn’t change position, with Amberwood Amblers
pulling a length further ahead with 222.22 Points and FF91 and
Michael Walsh scoring within a point of each other (198.24 & 199.80)

Honeysuckle and Minella Indo was a double worth having by all 3. Other
big points scorers were Monkfish for Amberwood and FF, whereas Amberwood and Michael had Shishkin. Bob Olinger was a nice winner in the Ballymore For Michael and Appreciate it maintained his great run in the Future Champion Novice
    Hurdle for FF.

Extremely well done guys, you’ve opened up a gap of some 80 Points back to
the 4th placed stable. Congratulations :good:

Whilst the top 3 have maintained position, there were plenty of highs and
lows this week. Just in case anyone down the bottom end (that would be me
then  ) thinks it’s a bit of a lost cause, I draw your attention
to Houdini escape of the week with Inthestream taking a massive 10 places
jump up the league from 19th to 9th. A sensational top score of 256.42 Points
with Monkfish, Shishkin, Minella Indo, all winners and a couple of runners up in Fakir D’Oudairies in the Ryanair and Sire Du Berlais in the Stayers.
Top Mover, top Points…….Top Man :yahoo:

Inthestream isn’t the only stable that has made significant inroads to bolster
their place in the league. Midnight jumps 5 places to be the nearest challenger
to the big 3 with Shishkin and Minella Indo helping
their cause, but also with the very game Put The Kettle On getting
her head in front in the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Well done Inthestream,
and good luck trying to rail in those 3 pesky varmints up top :good:

I have to give a mention to another big mover, and it’s Jac (Dark Angels) who
has been banging the drum for Put The Kettle On for long and weary.
Jac managed a 6 place jump from 13th place to 7th place with the lovely trio
of PTKO, Honeysuckle and Monkfish for a whopping 220.42 Points.
That’s you right back in the mix Jac and with the big meetings at Fairyhouse
ans Aintree ahead there are plenty points to make a charge. Very well done :good:

Others who deserve a pat on the back are The Fab Few2 who jumped 4 places to
6th, Bourne Losers up 2 to 5th, Man Superstars up 2 to 9th, Summerleaze up 4
to 12th and No Hopers up 1 to 16th.

Obviously with as many jumpers, there were just as many fallers, but I
think I’ll spare their blushes (seeing as I’m one of them  )

As for this weekend, it’s pretty much what you would expect after Cheltenham
so I’m not going to try and make a case for it. I don’t think there
is any stable interest at all.

Although it’s got nothing to do with the competition, I’m very much looking
forward to the big Carnival day at Meydan on Saturday. Anyone interested in
throwing their hat into the ring there I’m sure would be very welcome over on
Jac’s (Triptych) Meydan Thursdays thread in the Daily Lays and Plays Forum.

At the time of typing up the all too brief above, the Racingpost hadn’t
posted up the the Underwriting exchange Gold Cup Novices Chase which
runs at Fairyhouse on Sunday. There are a couple in there, one which
could be of greater significance to the top as current leaders Amberwood
Amblers has Andy Dufresne, although he has the unenviable task of
taking on Energumene who looked a bit of a monster last time
at Leopardstown. A win for AD would add just a touch more breathing space
between themselves and the 2 in close pursuit.

10 To Follow also has Andy Dufresne and could do with a bit of
fortune to haul them away from the bottom and Wildcards who probably
has the better chance of the 2 with Energumene who could take one
step closer towards the top half of the league.

Best of luck you guys :good:

Twas the week before Aintree, and nothing was stirring, well practically nothing except
a few well received points down at the bottom of the league for 10 To Follow and Green’s
Wildcards courtesy of Elimay in the Mares Chase at Fairyhouse. That brought 14.32 much
needed Points which got 10 To Follow one rung up the ladder to 19th place and whilst Green’s
Wildcards is still languishing at the bottom it was at least a step in the right direction.
Very well done guys, you’re the only movers and shakers this week :yahoo:

This week could be crucial as to who dons the crown with no fewer than 5 bonus races over the
3 day Festival, with only a further 2 weeks until the fat lady sings (are you even allowed to
say that now  ). The penalty kick of the week would surely be Shishkin who has 2 entries, the Manifesto Novice Chase on Thursday and the Doom Bar Novice Chase on the Saturday.
Personally I hope he goes for the former as Allmankind goes in the latter and I need the
points here and in the TTF compy as well. I doubt he will though and Allmankind will certainly
give him something to think about (or a target to aim at  )

The Betway Bowl is the race of the day on Thursday with the Hokey Cokey horse, Tiger Roll
making what was for me a surprise appearance here since Michael O’Leary took the huff and
pulled him out of the big one. It looked like he was Irish Grand National bound but here he
is. The connections have been downplaying his chances suggesting he has it all to do here.
I’m not swallowing that one, if he’s headed here, despite Native River, Clan Des Obeaux, Cepage,
    Fakir D’oudairies and Waiting Patiently
being in attendance, they expect him to win and so
    would I.

There’s plenty league stable interest in the Aintree Hurdle with Abacadabras, Ballyandy,Buvair
D’Air, Song for Someone, McFabulous and Silver Streak
(Silver Streak also has a Saturday entry)
all featuring in various stables. McFabulous hasn’t quite hit the heights I was hoping
for so far, but he has a decent chance here to get back on track. I probably jinxed him
by making him my star horse in the TTF

Friday has a few of our fancies turning out and I reckon that 10 to Follow could be on
the march again with Chantry House in the Mildmay Novices’ Chase. He looks like
the one that has his name on this. If it were a handicap he’s be giving lumps of weight
away. Fakir D’oudairies and Dashel Drasher are the 2 that feature
from the stables in the Marsh Chase, they both have a great shout but will have to give a
deal of respect to Politologue who might just run them into the dirt.

Farclas in the Topham Handicap Chase, can count himself very unlucky that he bumped
into The Shunter in the Paddy Power Plate at the Festival, who looked like he
has side stepped the handicapper by about 10lbs the way he won. I don’t see
anything that is the proverbial handicap blot in this one so he has every chance.

On Saturday, I’ve already mentioned that Shishkin probably goes for the Doom Bar
Maghull Novices’ Chase along with Allmankind and El Dorado Allen.

The big One looks so difficult with many genuine chances, but none more so than
Cloth Cap who Barrow Raiders was on right from the start of the competition.
He is without doubt the one to beat, but of course there will be 39 other hopefuls
all looking for the best position and so much can go wrong. He’s no banker but if
he doesn’t have something fall in front of him or get taken out by a loose horse or
whatever he could romp this. He’s 4s at the moment but I’d imagine that some bookie
is going to stick his head above the parapet on Saturday morning so I’m waiting to see.

I’ve already bet Acapella Bourgeois at 33s and I think he’s got a shout and Le Breuil,
but I doubt he will get in. To be honest I wish they hadn’t gone for the National
with Bristol De Mai. He’s been a fabulous servant to his connections and NTD and he’s
given his all every time he’s out. I worry for him, and I think carrying 11st 10lbs
around here against well handicapped horses is asking too much. I’ll be relieved just
to see him get round in one peace.

Plenty of others to make a case for but I’ll leave it at that. Very best of luck
over the 3 days and particularly with the big one on Saturday :good:

    Week 22 Update

Well the top three have rotated themselves once again with FF91 taking the
upper hand courtesy of Thyme Hill and 55.50 valuable points. Michael Walsh
moves up a place into the runners up slot, with the highest scoring of the
Big 3 with the very popular Shishkin (27.12 Points) and Clan Des Obeaux
(54.60 Points) in the Betway Bowl on Thursday. Amberwood Amblers joined
in the Shishkin party but 27.12 points wasn’t enough to stop him being knocked
off his perch and filling the 3rd spot. You couldn’t fit a fag paper between
the top 3, there’s barely 2 points separating them with 2 weeks to go. Well
done guys, this is going down to the wire :good:

I say there’s the big 3, but I don’t think Bourne Losers is having any of that
as they move to be the closest rival to the top 3 with the highest scoring stable
with 95 Points. Again Shishkin played his part along with Fakir D’oudairies
(57.10 Points) who was a good winner of the Marsh Chase and Roksana who only
found Thyne Hill too good in the Stayers Hurdle. Well done Bourne, a tally of 95.02
Points is a great score. Whether there’s time to haul the top 3 is in questionable, but
as top scorer of the week you deserve a bit of praise, very well done :yahoo:

A few other top scores this week, Man Superstars with 91.72 , Shishkin and Clan Des Obeaux
doing the business for MS raised him 3 places to 6th. 10 To Follow continued his
rise away from the bottom with Fakir D’oudaries and winner of the Mildmay Novices chase
Chantry House for 82.60 points, and Inthestream moved up 3 places to 7th with
Shishkin and Fakir D’oudairies (81.42 Points). Great scores guys :good:

There is an ongoing stewards enquirey, very unfair to my mind, just because myself
(Off The Bridle) and Nathan (Thiago Thiago Alcantara) scored the same 84.20 points.
Just because we were sitting at the same desk when picking our selections….WTF does
    that prove

Allmankind runs in the Future Champions Novice Chase at Ayr on Sunday, Bachelors
Hall looks likely to pick up a few points there.

It doesn’t look a great week for Stabe points, but I’m looking forward to the Scottish Grand
National and I’m hoping that Mister Fogpatches at 16/1 can breath some life into me after a
    bad week.

It’s the penultimate week in the competition, best of luck to all having a punt. Here are the

    Week 23 *FINAL WEEK*

Well it seems to have come all too soon, but this is it. Firstly I’ll
address last week’s points, which as expected were few and far between.
In fact only one stable managed to add to their tally and that was
Bachelors Hall with Allmankind in the Future Champions Novices’ Chase
at Ayr. I think he’s one for the future, I stuck him in my TRF TTF in
the transfer window, I think he looked even better over the further
distance, maybe even a Gold Cup Horse in time. Well done BH, 21.60
Points and this week’s top scorer :good:

Now coming down to brass tacks, as I mentioned last week, there is only
a couple of points between the 3 at the top of the table. So, this is
the slightly awkward bit. As Michael knows, he joined us on week 8 and
as was explained the door was closed on any further stables with regard
to the competition prizes one we were off and running. I was more than
happy for Michael to join in, he’s a 1st class competitor in the competitions,
and I take my hat off to him for doing so well, but I have in fairness
got to stick to the rules and this excludes Michael for potential prizes.
I know you were well aware Michael, it’s a shame you didn’t spot the
competition until late on, but as you sportingly said you were happy to
come along just for the fun of it.

In effect, FF91 is at the top of the league, which he is anyway, and
Amberwood Amblers are rightfully in 2nd with Bourne Losers taking the
3rd spot going into the last week with regard to the prizes.

It is a decent card at Sandown this weekend with many stables having
entries which could make a difference to the final podium places.
FF91 has On The Blindside in the Bet365 Select Hurdle. Michael Walsh
Has Clan Des Obeaux in the Gold Cup, along with Man Superstars, and Bourne
Losers is in 3rd place having Put The Kettle On in the Celebration Chase.

It gets a bit tricky here, but Bourne losers, on 531.42 Points, could still
be caught by Nathan (Thiago Thiago Alcantara), on 504.92 points, who would get
the 25 Points and depending on the price of Altior (if we ever see him) he could
just shade it. That is of course if Put The Kettle On doesn’t seal it for Bourne Losers.
As it happens, that’s also the case for Man Superstars, who although even further
back on 482 points has Clan Des Obeaux in the Gold Cup. With the
15 points for Group 3, plus the 25 points for it being a bonus race, and then
depending on the odds on the tote, he could scupper them both.

Plenty of others with runners who would like to finish as high up the league as
they could. Inthestream, Midnight, Dark Angels, The Fab Few and Summerleaze all have
Put The Kettle On, who just doesnt know how to lie down in a race. The Fab Few
also having Goshen in the Select Hurdle and Altior. That would make for
a very nice treble. MOM also has Altior, Waterloo Road has Goshen
and Altior and Neil’s Horses has Greaneteen in the Celebration Chase.

I wish you all the best of luck and I’ll update with the final scores either on saturday night
    or on Sunday.

And the winner is………….. :yahoo: FinalFurlong91 :yahoo:

Congratulations FF for picking out an outstanding stable. You got in the top 3 by
week 2, rose to leader on the 3rd week, and barring one slip on week 12 you were
never out of the top 3. You led the competition on no less than 11 weeks and fully
deserved to be standing on the top of the podium. First class :good:

The runner up is Amberwood Ramblers who threw everything at FF and came up a hair’s
breadth behind with a score of 596.46 Points, an agonising 2.48 Points shy of the
top spot. It was on the 4th week you muscled your way into the top 3 and after many
good weeks finally getting to the No 1 spot on week 10. It was a true tussle between
the pair of you and a final tally of weeks won showed there was virtually nothing in
in it, just being shaded out 11 – 10. It was like the rumble in the jungle 2 :yahoo:
Brilliant effort and very well done :good:

Borne Losers takes the final podium place but chose a tougher way to get there. Outright
leader after week 1 was a flying start and all looked well until week 3 when a bad week
sunk them to unlucky 13th position. Not deterred, it was a slow climb back up and not
until the penultimate week (22) did they eventually clamber onto that 3rd spot. That was
a precarious place to be going into the last week with, in fact if Altior had managed to
keep his head in front, it would have been Nathan (Thiago Thiago Alcantara) climbing onto
that final podium place. So congratulations to BL for grinding out that 3rd spot :good:

As already mentioned, there was so little between winner and runner up, and Nathan (Thiago
Thiago Alcantara) was so near to catching BL with Altior on the final day. Nathan I know it’s
no conselation, but I thought he would win too and had him down in my competitions today for
the win. A great run throughout the competition, you held no worse than a top 5 position in
19 of the 23 weeks, well done mate :good:

I should say that Nathan was just nicked for 4th on the last day as Inthestream had the
conqueror Of Altior, with Greaneteen in their stable. That final 35.50 Points was enough
to nab the 4th by the margin of 4.62 Points. A great effort by you too Inthestream, I
know we’ll see you in the new flat competition. Well done :good:

I have to give big congratulations to Michael Walsh, who finished with only 1.40 Points
behind the FF91, it was a superb effort and such a pity that Michael missed the deadline
by a few weeks and therefore was not eligible. That was a terrific effort Michael and
hopefully you might pitch a stable into the new flat competition next week.

So well done to everyone who competed and made it an exciting league from day 1 :good:

FinalFurlong if you could PM me your bank account number and sort code, I’ll transfer
the £50 1st prize to you. Amberwood Amblers if you could similarly PM me with your
details I’ll send on your £25 prize for runner up. Very well done to both of you again.

Bourne Losers, I think Jac has an excellent book prize, The Scudamores Three Of A Kind,
which I’m sure Jac (Triptych) will be in touch with you about. Well done again

Hope to see you all in the new flat competition which is open now, the deadline for entries
is 11am on Saturday 1st May

Well done FF91 :yahoo: brilliant stable choice in a well fought battle with Michael and Amberwood who gains third prize of the Scudamore saga Three Of A Kind.
If you would like to PM me Amberwood I will get that sent off to you, it’s a good read about a remarkable racing dynasty. :good:

Happy that my Dark Angels survived the top 10 and I have hopefully learnt a few tips about what horses to choose for my stable for next season.

Lastly many thanks to Graham for running this and putting up the prizes, his weekly updates have ben encouraging and informative and looking forward to the flat TTF starting soon Graham with all the usual suspects and perhaps a few new faces in tow.

A really enjoyable contest. :good: Jac

Hi Jac, I just thought I’d point out that Amberwood Amblers was actually
the runner up. Unfortunately for Michael he didn’t enter the league until
week 8 and therefore he came along for the ride as he couldn’t qualify in
the league competition proper. Bourne Losers takes the third spot, I did let
them know you would be in touch :good:
