    Current Odds

    Jenrick 11/10

    Badenoch 2/1

    Cleverley 4/1

    20/1 Bar

Leaving aside political prejudices, who can read the Tory party? My initial instinct was that Jenrick was the safe pair of hands but I then found from watching a couple TV studio interviews that he may be a little callow at this stage for leadership. Badenoch is a young looking 44yo but sounds like a a 34yo or even 24yo! So I was left with Cleverley who impressed me in his presentation at the campaign launch last week and had a little punt although he has weakened slightly in recent days. Is he too toxic from being in government? Is there something of the Alan Sugar about him (if not the night!) that may count against him in Tory ranks. Or will it be Apprentice Cleverly – You’re hired!

Disappointing vote for Cleverly. If I was in his camp I’d let the Tory members get a good “dose” of Jenrick and Badenoch before coming to the fore.
