Anyone that suggests with great confidence that one of these horses is certainly superior to the other is either an attention seeker or a guesser imo. There’s a fag paper between them on everything we’ve seen so far.

Agreed. There is so little between them that factors such as pace, course (I couldn’t have DA at Goodwood after the way he ran at Epsom) and trainer form (Hannon flying last week) are key.

I prefer to appreciate two wonderful racehorses than worry about which one is better.

If Hayley led Nathan, she’d win. Both myself and Gord would be so fixated with a certain "view", we’d forget it was a race.

    Very coltish!

Well, well well, who’d have believed me and the man ‘Himself’ actually share the same interest in Football and Fighting.I too am a ‘Feenyan’, a Non religious one mind and have supported Celtic since 1974 when I first moved to Scotland.Do you remember the ‘Danny Mcgrain’ era? The Peter Latchfords in goal, the Billy Mcneils and Lou Macari’s? Legends of the club.As for Boxing I was a big fan of Ken Buchanan,Alan Minter and Nigel Benn..Do you agree the worst ever fighter from these shores apart from Audley Harrison was Richard Dunne??…..Geez he was bad.Do you remember a guy called Chris Pyatt?,Potential was there!

This is probably not the thread to continue this debate… but hey ho.. :?

I remember Pyatt losing to the tremendous Steve Collins. Dunne was a good indicator of how bad the standard of British heavyweight boxing was at that time – but at least he can say he was once a punchbag for Ali.

Best boxer ever : that’s an easy one – Sugar Ray Robinson. 8)

Do I remember those Cetic names ? Of course. I have attended many hundreds of Celtic matches throughout the decades, including seeing the Lisbon Lions in their hey day – although I wasn’t in Lisbon, I saw them a few weeks earlier when they beat Aberdeen 2-0 in the SC final, when the same 11 played. I have seen them all, from Jimmy Johnstone , Bobby Murdoch, Billy McNeill and Bobby Lennox, to Danny McGrain, George Connelly and my own hero, Kenny Dalglish – a real class act. I was there at Hampden ( 1965 ) when Jock Stein won his 1st ( Scottish )cup with Celtic, through to his last trophies in 1977 ( league and Cup double when Latchford featured ). I was there on the Monday evening in May, 1979 when the 10 men beat Rangers to win the league have been faithful " through and through " ever since. :

I was astonished at the crispness and accuracy of Ken Buchanan’s punches, Himself. I’ll never forget that. There’s so much mauling, hanging on, and optimistic or opportunistic (depending on how good they are), close-quarters punching in clinches, particularly among the heavier weights.

I can think you can take a fair amount of the credit yourself for those selections.

    Nice work.

I’ve read some good judges on here over the years Boz,the likes of

    Imperial Call

    and

    Carvills Hill

stand out from the past,I’d mention my old enemy

    Fist

too along with more recent contributors like

    Darren

    and

    Thehorsesmouth

who know there stuff. What you have that takes you to another level is the ability to add colour to your prose and thats what makes you instantly readable.I’d imagine most on here are pretty settled in their Professional careers so aren’t looking to promote their skills as serious Writers but there’s plenty who fit into that category,

    Jonibake

    ,

    Hammy

    ,

    Betlarge

    ,

    Olas

    ,

    Oasisdreamer

to mention but a few and thats what makes this forum easily the most knowledgable and informative on the internet,if my memory serves me well I reckon we lost a good lad to Timeform a couple of years ago so this is certainly a good platform for those with the skills to sell themselves. If

    Ginger

could just commit himself to picking one horse in a race instead of half of them, he certainly has the discipline to maintain a consistent approach to the game but nobody will ever know if he actually has the ability to identify a good horse as he treats them all as numbers!

You’ve certainly named some good’ns there Gord. I look in on your thread these days more to read what Darren has to say.

Of course every punter needs to be able to "identify a good horse" Gord, but it is its price that makes the horse a good bet.

If you cared to actually take the time and look at my bets Gord, you’ll see I have Main bets, and saver bets. Anyone could easily put them in to first choice, second choice etc if they wished. Timeform understand the theories about backing more than one horse in a race, even if you don’t.

If you’d like to add up ALL bets (even my saver bets). My percentage profit is more than your percentage profit Gord. Because your

    one horse

    per race brings a

    very poor

    strike rate; where as

my strike rate more than makes up for my multiple bets.

Again, no wish to hijack the thread, but I must tell you this one from KB’s autobiography. He went badly astray, especially with alcohol, and he grew his hair long, wore sunglasses all the time and managed to get a joinery job on a building site where the workers knew him only by his first name.

An agent came on site one day and recognised him, shook his hand and asked for an autograph, after which one of his mates approached in wonderment and said, "**** sakes, Ken, you must be some ******* joiner!"

    :D
