Hello everyone. I joined this site a couple of days a go and there have been some excellent horses tipped by people and some great discussions going on about racing in general. So thought I’d give it a bash and record all of my bets in this thread. I’ve been on a number of racing forums but I have found this one the most useful.
I’ve been into racing for about 9 years now and I’ve become to know the game quite well now so I will hopefully be able to hit some winners in this thread. The main reason I want to start this thread is because I think if you record your bets you can learn from your mistakes and also find what type of races you are best at picking winners in such as handicaps, sellers, maidens etc. I personally prefer handicaps.
By the way my real name is Carl, not Tony McCoy (obviously). The reason I picked my user name to be Tony McCoy is because I believe he is the greatest jockey ever over jumps, and statistics agree. I also think Ruby Walsh is a master in the saddle, so calm and cool in big races.
Hope no-one minds me posting my selections here, so I’ll get going through the cards now and see what catches my eye.
Thank you
May 6, 2011 at 21:36 #354163Very good racing tomorrow with eight good meetings to get stuck into including a top card at Punchestown.
3.40 Haydock
Binocular was a let down today at Punchestown but full credit deservedly goes to Hurricane Fly who has an excellent career ahead of him. Anyway, I’m hoping Binocular’s half-brotherRemember Now
can win me the money back I lost on Bino today.
Remember Now
has won both of his handicaps including one where he beat tomorrow’s rival
Taitspout
by a short head. Although he goes up 10lb he had the job done last time and was never in doubt. He has very strong claims here.
2pts Win @ 11/2 PaddyPower, Bet 365, Sky Bet, William Hill
4.25 Punchestown
This race features a few horses with great ability such asUnaccompanied
who only lost out by a couple of lengths to Zakandar at this years Cheltenham Festival. That is strong form but one I think will get the better of here tomorrow is
Grandouet
. He went very well at Aintree and may be could have won if he hadn’t of been brought down. I’ll take him to reverse rect form with
Unaccompanied
and he has to be respected in this race.
2pts Win @ 7/2 PaddyPower, Bet 365, Boylesports
2.40 Lingfield
Field Of Miracles
is bound to go well tomorrow but I’m taking him on with what has been my favourite horse on the all weather surface this winter,
Palm Pilot
. Since getting off the mark for the first time she has racked up a hat-trick of wins and I’m hoping she’ll be able to hit a four timer tomorrow. She has improved with every run and can handle this step up in class and extra couple of furlongs.
1pt Each Way @ 8/1 Paddy Power, William Hill, Bet 365
Well those are my three horses to get my thread started tomorrow, hopefully I’ll hit a couple of winners to make some profit.
Thanks and Good Luck.
May 6, 2011 at 21:55 #354166Best of luck Carl! Personally i think Unaccompanied will prove hard to beat, although Grandouet did look to be travelling very sweetly at Aintree before coming down.
May 6, 2011 at 22:11 #354169Cheers mate, agree about Unaccompanied but just thinks there’s a bit more value to be had in the form of Grandouet. Enjoyed reading your thread this week mate, you’ve had a very good Punchestown Festival hitting some nice winners this week. I also had Uncle Junior at 8/1, great ride by Ruby. Backed Wishful Thinking at 4/1 who put in a great performance but then lost some money on Binocular. Hurricane Fly was excellent though.
Good luck with your bets mate

May 7, 2011 at 17:32 #3543218.30 Thirsk
This is my last bet of the night and I think
Tombellini
can grab a quick double coming into this with a 6lb penalty after a win at Newcastle earlier in the week.
