…..would you rather have any other jockey on your horse? I know I wouldn’t.
October 16, 2010 at 20:08 #322830He is certainly having a great season , and I think that he is improving all the time.
I think he deserves a lot of credit also for the excellent education that he has given Frankel, a point I made at the time on a thread I started on the evening of his debut.
In my view he is just as good as Moore and Hanagan, and I agree with your opinion of himOctober 16, 2010 at 22:47 #322848An admirable win for Twice Over. But how should the admiration be apportioned? How much to Henry Cecil for having the horse better than ever after a couple of very tough defeats. How much to Tom Queally for easily the best tactical ride from any of the jockeys in the race, and for learning from his mistake in the Prince of Wales earlier in the year. (We all make mistakes, it is what we learn from them that matters most). How much to the horse himself for making the absolute most of his ability by being tough, honest and versatile?
Well said about Queely. He’s fast becoming my favorite jockey. Not particularly in terms of ability but personality, graft, his ability like you mentioned to learn form his mistakes, his modesty and, not least, his ability. He appears very intelligent which is something to be admired. Can’t say enough about the lad. Very impressed since his association with Cecil and before, mind.
Taken from the Champion Stakes thread.
In equine equivelancy, he trains on and thats an admirable quality. He’ll get better and better and better.

Bit obvious to be asking this question ater 2 Group 1 winners on the same day but I agree 100%.
Certainly never has a problem with Tom Queally in fact quite the opposite. He’s often made the difference for me when trying to decide whether to have a bet or not. Guy just gives you that bit extra confidence you need somtime to take that extra step.
Not going to star comparing him to anyone He’s exceptionally reliable, a man you can depnd on to give it his all and not make too many mistakes.
The fact he’s used by Barney Curley supports that plus Henry has used some of the best jockey’s in racing over the years and wouldn’t have him if he was anything less than exceptional.
October 17, 2010 at 06:51 #322875I like Tom. Does the basics well, and doesn’t seem to panic. Reliable man in the saddle. Little fuss.
