Just had a look at your choices and see your still in at Sedgefield. I’m also hanging in there but dont have any of your three in the fifth race and have opted to try and get Fuel Cell unplaced in the last. One of us at least should manage to crack it today.

Yes, though the non runners have caused havoc with the likely pay out to be very low unless we can get Fuel Cell beat.
Good luck,
Mike
August 10, 2007 at 16:40 #111029Had Golly and a non runner so its down to you !
August 11, 2007 at 11:43 #111093Yesterday’s profit/loss: +£9.66
Total profit/loss: -£91.14Well yesterday we got our first positive result though it wasn’t much. I’ve attempted the Ascot meeting today so good luck to anyone having a go.
I will be away tomorrow so there won’t be any selections. Monday I will be back around noon so might just have time to post some selections.
All the best,
Mike
August 11, 2007 at 12:03 #111095Well done yesterday MMo. Good luck today (and with Pricewise). I haven’t done a placepot for years but might give it a go next week. From memory it’s a nice fun bet but harder than it looks

August 11, 2007 at 13:09 #111097Stone cold last the favourite in the first.
Absolutely dreadful performance.
Sometimes its hard to equate how a horse can run so well one week, and so dreadful the next.
Sorry about today’s placepot guys – wouldn’t have had any of the first 3 I don’t think even if I had opposed the fav.

August 11, 2007 at 14:29 #111100Bad luck Mike – I’ve noticed that some of Amanda Perrett’s horses have been running good races whilst others have run stinkers for no apparent reason ( Night Crescendo and Nosferatu being recent examples ). I’ve backed Bandama in the 3:30 so I’m just hoping for the best!
Hope you have better luck with your placepots next week.August 13, 2007 at 13:32 #111224Hi all,
Just got back from a mad weekend away so haven’t got time to post any placepot selections for this afternoons cards. So I wll concentrat on Windsor and they should be on my blog some time this afternoon.
Take care all,
Mike

Bad luck, 5 out of 6 is always annoying, but when you go down in the last it’s even worse.
Today’s Newton Abbot selections are on my blog now. I will keep battling away.

August 15, 2007 at 17:18 #111399Sandown looked the most interesting of the quintet of meetings today. I’ve gone with the following perm, risking a whole £7.20 in 48 x 15p lines.
5:30 – (2)Dome Rock
This is a big risk in the first leg, but I am not at all keen on Royal Confidence dropping to 5 furlongs given how far back she has been getting in races over further. With the rain that has been around recently I’d also rather be against Cordell, and unless Clive Brittain’s horse is ready to rock and roll (most aren’t on their debuts although not beyond the realms of possibility) Dome Rock makes by far the most appeal back on turf.6:00 – (6)Royal Challenge, (14)Blessed Place
An open looking contest but the two selections both have plenty in their favour and I’m hoping at least one of them makes the places (obviously). Blessed Place has a nice draw and is running consistently, with the minimum trip on easier ground ideal, whilst Royal Challenge has a good course record, the ability to act on the ground and with form figures this year of –00077 should be mostly overlooked for placepot purposes.6:35 – (5)Dr Livingstone, (6)Loyal Knight, (11)Resplendent Light
This doesn’t look particularly strong, so nothing would really surprise. Loyal Knight ran very respectably in a goodish maiden first time out and boasts form as good as any here. Dr Livingstone is well-bred and has some fancy entries, albeit representing a stable which hasn’t been doing that well with its flat runners this year. Finally Resplendent Light showed more promise last time and could have plenty more to offer eventually.7:05 – (4)Perfect Star, (7)World’s Heroine
Put simply, I boiled this race down to just three likely sorts to which I gave a roughly equal chance. Given that Schevchenko is likely to carry a disproportionately large share of the placepot funds, I’ve gone with the other two and hopefully won’t regret doing so.7:40 – (3)Dar Es Salaam, (4)Oakley Heffert
Dar Es Salaam is worthy of a prominent place in the betting and will probably act perfectly well on this ground. I can’t oppose Ed Dunlop’s horse entirely (especially with doubts over Muhannak on the ground and Time Over on a high enough mark after contesting two weakish mile events) but there is a question, so Oakley Heffert is included on the back of some very solid and consistent efforts, with proven ability over this distance and on this type of going.8:10 – (2)Galianna, (5)Duty Free
I fear there will be a glut of early pace here, so have sided with the promising Galianna (who may benefit from the extra distance and will almost certainly be held up), and the improving course-winner Duty Free (who races prominently but doesn’t need to lead and remains fairly treated).August 15, 2007 at 17:47 #111403haha! wish i hadn’t bothered!
August 15, 2007 at 18:01 #111405Bad Luck NV,
I can’t believe the luck I am having either. Before I started my Blog, I had 7 out of 10 successful days, now I have had 1 out of 7 lol – it’s a nightmare.
But we shall keep battling together

August 16, 2007 at 20:27 #111494Well done Mike in getting the placepot at Chepstow – don’t reckon that the dividend will be too big but maybe this win will be the start of better things ahead.
August 16, 2007 at 23:31 #111516Hi SC,
Thanks for that.
It paid £23.20 to my amazement lol, thought it would pay about £5. But I had it to a £5 stake (2 placed in the last) so returns of £116 is a profit of £66 on the day – it’s a start lol.

August 21, 2007 at 13:04 #111948HI all,
I took a short breat from the Placepot after getting 5 out of 6 again on Friday lol. I’m hopefully back with a bang today at York, so good luck to all in your punting.

August 21, 2007 at 15:53 #111981Furious and Delighted at the same time.
I am absolutely furious, because after getting 4 winners out of 4 in the placepot, I opposed Fast Company simply because I thought it would start favourite and I wanted to oppose the fav because of the non runner. But if you check my write up, I fancied Fast Company big style and said that I was ‘loathed’ to oppose it. The annoying thing is, the horse didn’t even start favourite – and if I knew that would happen then he probably would have been my banker of the day lol. Why do I put so much emphasis on getting the favourite beat – before I started my Blog it worked so well lol, I think I am jinxed now!
Well why I am I delighted, well I had Septimus, Authorized and Fast Company in a good treble – I was so close to putting Lucarno in and making it a yank but nevermind.
Can’t wait for tommorrow now lol.
Mike
