Oh.
It would be a shame if BH’s shortest-ever posting turned out to be his last.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 14, 2022 at 23:50 #1614738Probably the deal was that the article had to remain for a specified duration.
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysSeptember 15, 2022 at 05:47 #1614743Surely BH is due some sort of response on here?
September 15, 2022 at 06:50 #1614745To the casual onlooker, it’s a turn of events open to differing interpretation.
Have these postings and even private messages gone unread?
Have they been read and a decision and/or response is still being considered?
Has the public ultimatum resulted in a digging in of heels?
We live in a world where no reply increasingly IS a reply in the eyes of growing numbers.
And of course by going public on the forum with his issues any lack of a public reply here could be construed as not only ignoring BH but ignoring the entire forum (or at least all those who have read this thread and expressed, or privately hold, a view on it).
It’s a free forum, no one is entitled to a response, but it is starting to feel like an unfortunate breakdown in communications.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 15, 2022 at 07:00 #1614746Brinkmanship? Clickbait? Or just rude?
Threads are things which can develop and intrigue. Perhaps this one is being allowed to run without response to gauge a wider opinion.
I have made a decision after 20 odd years to call it a day in the hope forlornly probably that commonsense will prevail.
When someone says something is of genuine concern and they are completely ignored it is a sad old day.September 15, 2022 at 07:14 #1614747I think what makes it even harder to understand is that, while everyone has busy lives away from this forum, there has been time to come here and post a book review, but apparently not time to deal with this.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 15, 2022 at 09:25 #1614753Two days ago I did try to post and bring up an old thread…The future of TRF… from July 2006. This did not succeed but if you wish to read the thread and my comments – it is in my replies history so you can have a gander if you want.
I do not think LRM’s missing link on Save the Racing Forum means that much at all, in view of Debs rather vaguely worded, later explanation. Also the fact that the first lizard won poster of the year in 2013 was kept a little from public view rather added to the achievement. Betlarge was the horseheads choice but just like Bolsanaro and Trump and the Brexit referendum I won against all the odds, but with a subtle difference – without any social media manipulation.
I spent a good few hours yesterday quite happily immersed and frolicking in the history of this fine site, and read again some of the old sadly, few remaining threads. The oldest I found was January 2002 – a racing thread – care of Tooting – I was able to leapfrog on other users and look into their post history. I read Jim’s very memorable Clock thread – A very unusual thread ‘the crouching Menace’ where gamble appeared to be on some sort of euphoric substance, or on a different planet, where Jim stated he would rather root canal treatment – than read his strange outpourings. I read about the removal of Merlin’s Joke thread in horseracing where horsey type jokes reigned, but finally removed by Daylight, and I read the interesting discussion around that. I looked at Word Association III and Craig’s strong words against Razeen. I looked at a the original film thread an old joke thread and many many more.
I discovered that BH’s Paddy the Paddy in his drip of days revelation kept us waiting for 59 days to announce absolutely nothing. This lead me later to put up Needleman thread and vote which led to 35 votes and initially a tie between Davies and Kotkijet (BH) but later two more votes crowned BH with silverware.
I couldn’t find Needleman but maybe I will on a wet afternoon. Possibly not though because I found no lounge threads before 2005 – the more boring racing threads go back to 2002 which shows where sentiments lie. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a No Reply – it was favoured by Razeen and Daylight and is a show of strength.
I remember when I got wind of my return to this forum after my banning I wrote to Daylight with conditions – I wanted to return via a celebrity Q&A and I emailed him three times and received not one reply – which I found hugely amusing. I think he knew I was taunting him – but it was certainly a risk. Here I am all those years later, but feeling like a big fish out of water with little relevance and no horse to ride.
I don’t know if the above brings the discussion of the current issue any further but hopefully so – if not treat it as a deviation. If you do read my failed posting – please read ‘racing syndicate’ for ‘racing club’ – I am not able to edit it, and you know gamble is a real stickler for truth and accuracy
P.s – the racing threads are not boring at all when written but some wear badly with the passage of time which is curiously, about face in the fly zone

September 15, 2022 at 11:02 #1614759Might I adopt a bent frame in ever so umble appreciation of the great Mr Gnats and his wizadry and inspirational involvment.
Out of interest the original thread I asked to be saved was SAVE THE RACING FORUM which had Big Tony and the red handed JimJTS in flying fisticuff form and someone who was later canonized as saint Click with his own ten thousand print philosophy Bible, who was just a simple preacher back then, but was very strangely referred to as – THE LOG. I never really understood what log meant – possibly the Log of Life, I surmised after looking at his writtings.

September 15, 2022 at 13:08 #1614764Well BH if the Hall is about to close either temporarily or permanently, might I say what an out of this world ride you have given everyone over the 20 odd years. By odd …well you know what I mean !
Everything comes to pass in time, but time does not resolve everything, indeed.on the contrary, with time things can get considerably worse.
I know Tank lived by choice in a cave, but I could never understand his loathing of you. Was it perhaps your metamorphosis into the Great Orator on young horses and soon sadly to be 🥵 Burning Bush, that rankled him enough to tear up his etchings, do a hissy, and spray such difficult words from an unvaxed mouth at your godly juvenile perfection?
I wish you all the very best for the future – from the biggest motormouth fraud on the racing forum 😳
( Odd years
)September 15, 2022 at 17:25 #1614786Most of the time we impart our last words, we do so obliviously…
I have not stated this outright because I never thought it relevant;-
This is not personal.
Certainly not on my part. I do not have any issues with David nor do I recall any. Any interaction I have had with him has been on the cordial side of unremarkable. He may have different recollections but that would be news to me.
Nevertheless, out of being confused as to why the response has not been in accordance with what I might consider to be rational, I have questioned my own part in this business. In short, there is not an abundance of ideas. Best I can come up with is “perhaps I could have been more tactful”; which is dissatisfying. Apart from tact being superficial, I am not asking an absent minded tourist to move out of the way so I can get off the bus, or a child to not stick a sandwich in the VCR. I am asking a grown and capable man to remove an article so hideous that the use of tact would diminish the severity of its offence.
That is actually the exhaustion of my thoughts on my part. A dialogue might help elucidate matters, but in its absence, I am left to merely guess at David’s motivations.
My initial thought was one which Ian alluded to; ego. He has taken umbrage to my confrontation and this has now become a battle of wills. This is nothing to do with the wrongs and wrongs of cheaply sending problem gamblers to predator casinos. This is about winning. Sam makes a similar posit about this being a game, rather than a battle, and an interesting one on clickbait. David may well be “just rude”, but very few people are rude for the sake of being rude and it would be a very hollow exercise.
Any or none of these could be correct. Only David knows for sure and he isn’t sharing the answer publicly. Now the following is said neither out of antagonism nor denigration. Rather, the matter of his silence has become a topic of discussion in and of itself and I inevitably have a thought. My current theory boils down to cowardice on his part. Now I am not calling David a coward. I am saying that this is an act of cowardice; something which I am quite certain we have all been guilty of at one point or another. Myself definitely included. The specifics of David’s cowardice are open to speculation. Either he is afraid to confront this topic with myself, or himself. But in either case, the path he has chosen is to do nothing and wait for this to blow over – which it eventually will.
To be frank, I do not care why my concerns have been ignored, nor do I care about who has ignored them. It is not something I will be thinking about in a few weeks’ time.
I absolutely want to stay here mostly because of the people, but also because it is where I have probably learned the most about the sport over a not insignificant portion of my lifetime. (Not to mention the tremendous amount of amusement). My passion for the sport has been very well served by this forum over the years and it is a service that I wish to perpetuate to the best of my abilities.
But not at the expense of some very rudimentary principles.
If I leave, it will inevitably be with a heavy heart. However, it probably won’t be something that I give much thought when I am on my deathbed reflecting on loves, losses, achievements, failures and everything in between. If beating me is something you will hold up as a great accomplishment during your twilight hours, then you probably need this victory more than anybody could fathom. But if it is not, then just delete the article.
September 17, 2022 at 06:13 #1614952As I have said before, Bachelor’s Hall, who has contributed so generously to this forum, deserves a response of some kind.
Come on, David, do the right thing, PLEASE.
September 17, 2022 at 06:31 #1614954I echo Colin’s words – I really am surprised this has dragged on for as long as it has and it beggars belief that TRF’s owner isn’t aware of it, or been made aware of it by others.
There’s been time to pen and upload a book review, but not the minute or so it would take to address the concerns raised here.
The lack of a message sends a message as we live in the era of “no reply IS a reply.”
As stated, I am not a supporter of ultimatums but I understand BH’s concerns and reasons for his depth of feeling and I do feel a reply at the earliest opportunity would have been the optimum solution here.

Verse 17
For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast of Slot, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.[23]
I can’t wait – I’m off for a dump
September 17, 2022 at 21:50 #1615042As stated numerous times, I’m not a fan of ultimatums.
However, there are other ways of quietly registering a protest, I broadly support BH’s position (if not all of his methods) on this issue and I’m going to express that support by boycotting the juvenile hurdler thread in the main section until such time – if any – that BH feels happy to return and recommences posting on it (I take my lead from him on this).
Some might say the more threads Chezza boycotts the better, of course!
One last thought, if this IMO needless affair cannot be amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties, what happens if someone nominates this thread for Thread Of The Year come awards time?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 18, 2022 at 20:24 #1615123Sorry people, I don’t often log in as cormack15 (usually as admin so message me there or mail me david@theracingforum.co.uk ).
The articles are often/usually provided (and written) by third parties who pay a small fee for their placement, thus allowing TRF to pay its way.
Gambling is at the heart of racing so I make no apologies for running articles related to gambling or advertising gambling sites.
BUT the article with the link to non Gamstop sites is not great so have removed it, slipped the net that one.
Sorry BH took so long to respond, only just aware of it.September 18, 2022 at 20:53 #1615130I would say one cannot say fairer than that.
Any delay in response is surely mitigated by the positive content of the response when it materialised – a happy ending, I hope.
