Well done with Snap Tie today THM. I backed him (on the day) for the County. Thought the handicapper had taken a chance, but I didn’t get involved today.
Think I’m going to wait until we know more about targets before backing anything for the Cheltenham novive chases. (Peddlers Cross! ) Especially with Mr Ryanair having so many "aeroplanes" to juggle. (Sir Des went for the Jewson too). Good luck with Trifolium, certainly a big sort who should make a better chaser.
Value Is EverythingApril 25, 2012 at 13:58 #402109Thanks Ginger, he made an awful error on the far side but was straight back on the bridle. Stayed very well in ground that I didn’t think would suit but class is class
Sorry you weren’t on but no harm in being selective. Took a bit of a flyer with Trifolium granted, could be a Jewson horse in fairness but I’ll be disappointed if he’s not aimed at the Arkle.
Today Ipsos Du Berlais stands out at 6/1. He’ll love the ground and test of stamina. Sous Les Cieux hasn’t avhieved anything more this season but is half the price. He’s also a doubtful stayer on this ground.
Ipsos Du Burlais
€10 e/w @ 6/1 (Boyles)April 27, 2012 at 22:57 #402352Haven’t been on for the past couple of days. Backed two horses yesterday, Uncle Junior and Voler La Vedette. It’s great when a horse you’ve been backing all season rewards your faith, as was the case with Uncle Junio. I’m not sure if it was a wondeful ride by Patrick Mullins or he almost left it too late. Whatever the answer is, it sure looked spectacular. Voler La Vedette ran a good race and has definietly improved since last season. However Quevega was brilliant and it’s just a pity we’ll never see her race against Big Buck’s.
Today my treble was landed with Hurricane Fly. He didn’t travel as well as he can and ran a very similar race to Cheltenham I felt. I thought Zaidpour had him in trouble two out but in fairness Hurricane Fly found plenty for Ruby’s urgings. I also backed Lyreen Legend each way in novice hurdle. No profit or loss here, and I’m looking forward to him jumping a fence next season.
Tomorrow there’s good action at Punchestown and Sandown. It’s a pity Quito De La Roque is a non runner tomorrow as he’d have been very hard to beat. Rubi Light will revel in the conditions and although there’s a slight concern about his stamina I think he’ll win tomorrow. Soft ground is key to his chances and he’ll get just that tomorrow. I feel there is no star in the field and they’ve all been beating each other all season. Quel Esprit won at Leopardstown and he’ll handle the ground but he wasn’t that impressive and I think he could struggle to go with Rubi Light tomorrow.
At Sandown Le Beau Bai looks a solid each way play with Paddy Power paying out on 5 places. Like Rubi Light he’ll love the soft ground and will be hard to keep out of the frame.
April 28, 2012 at 01:15 #402361Une Artiste will like the going at Punchestown tomorrow and that’s going to be half the battle. I respect Our Girl Salley and wouldn’t put anyone off an each way bet on her but Une Artiste has looked like a very smart and progressive sort this year and will be hard to beat. Rubi Light is my nap of the day, especially with Paddy Power’s money back if your horse finishes second to Quel Esprit offer. Le Beau Bai is worth a small interest at 7/1 also.

April 28, 2012 at 18:17 #402447Unluky with Une Artiste refusing to race but these things happen. In profit for the season so I can’t really complain but the amount is over a thousand less than last season unfortunately. What was most disappointing is being up over €500 before Christmas and then throwing away €200. Nevertheless that’s 4 out of 4 threads on here now that have resulted ina profit for me, even if it was only a fiver last flat season
I have some ante-posts already on for next season so I won’t count them in the overall profit, and will put them in at the start of my 2012-2013 thread next season. They are:
King George 2012
Grands Crus
€10 e/w @ 8/1 William HillArkle 2013
Trifolium
€5 e/w @ 25/1 BoylesportsGold Cup 2013

April 30, 2012 at 12:00 #402564Good stuff Tommy, always enjoy reading your thread as I’m a big lover of Irish racing, backed Uncle Junior the other day mainly due to your championing of him all season and great that it paid off…what a finish, I think Patrick can take alot of credit for that, perfectly timed.
Look forward to reading your comments on the flat, fancied Unaccompanied yesterday but didn’t commit in the end but think your right, one to follow this season, lovely mare.
May 4, 2012 at 18:46 #403003Thanks Pants, Uncle Junior should once again be hard to beat in Cross country races next season. His jumping has improved ten fold since a move to cross country which is a massive plus considering he was a clueless jumper of fences!
Hopefully the flat thread will go well and we can get some nice winners. A 66/1 winner this Sunday would be a nice start
