Good evening all, as always in particular to my fellow Golfing compadres Swallow Cottage and MikkyMo.
Well having managed to salvage a winning week last week thanks in main to Stephen Ames, it’s onwards again with the upcoming puzzles to solve.
Will begin this weeks conundrums with the Cambodian Masters and first to Oche this week will be Thaworn Wiratchant and once again burdened with my trust Prom Meesawat :)
Moving onto the PGA Tour Qualifying School and some well known faces here, for me Ryan Palmer will hopefully attempt to fly the flag single handedly, mad or brave i myself am not sure

Without wishing to offend anyone that for me is the supporting cast done and dusted, now onto the main dishes.
Beginning with the Nippon Series JT Cup, here i think it’s a case of better the devil you know so step forward the one and only Jeev-Milkha Singh, athough given the last couple of weeks not much confidence in him, will put Hideto Tanihara in as the supporting cast.
Moving on to the New Zealand Open, mob handed here in the shape of Daniel Chopra, not much of a price but as was proved last week, greed got the better of me again, but in the hope that the Penalty Shoot-out has not done him in he must go very close

The supporting cast are made up of Alexander Noren, got to give Scott Strange another go and Jarrod Mosely complete the voting here.
Finally arguably the best this week is reserved for the Nedbank Challenge, i am going in for my E/W of the week here in the shape of Stewart Cink, hopefully he will get into the 1st three, and will supplement him with Trevor Immelman again.
As always whatever your picks BE LUCKY.
November 27, 2007 at 22:34 #127503Hey Wakeman,
I was wondering where you had go to – you’re late this week.
I was just about to contact the Lancashire authorities to see if there was any news of an unfortunate bungee jumper at the weekend
.I will post my selections tomorrow, but in the meantime I will say that I am so pleased that you have found the bold facility – it was a nightmare trying to find your selections when reading back through your text

All the best,
Mike
November 27, 2007 at 22:41 #127505Well done last week wakeman with backing Ames…..didn’t think you would go more than one week without backing a winner

My lucky streak will probably come to an end soon but I am hoping that my jinx with Adam Scott ( I have bet on him lots of times without success but he has won plenty when my money was not on ) will end this week in the Nedbank Challenge in South Africa where only 12 players take part. I backed him at 11/1 on BF before Garcia, Furyk and Harrington withdrew. My second choice is Trevor Immelman who often plays well in his native country.
The European tour goes to New Zealand which is a country I regret not emigrating to when I had the chance as a 19 year old…….my friends say that they also regret me not going there – I wonder what they mean
It’s a weaker tournament than the one last week and this time I have not heard of at least 75% of the players. The favorite Chopra should win on the form book but his price is too short for my liking and I’m not convinced he’ll reproduce last week’s performance. M.Campbell will be keen to do well here but seems to be out of form and lacks confidence. My first choice is the experienced australian Peter O’Malley who finished 4th last week and has won a few tournaments in NZ during his career. He can get a bit shaky when he gets into serious contention to win though. I’m also going to give another chance to Marcus Fraser and my other bet is on Scott Strange who may be running into form.Over in Japan at the JT Cup and I am going to repeat last weeks selections and give one last chance to J M Singh in the hope that he can recapture the form he showed at the end of last year when he won this event plus another bet on Yasuharu Imano who has won this event in the past.
Good luck.
November 28, 2007 at 09:42 #127556Morning Mikky, yes it was a bit late for me but unfortunately the day job sometimes interferes when you least expect it
but thankfully i have today off before battling the elements again Tomorrow and Friday. It was nice to know that you were thinking of me with regard to the Lancashire authorities, most would have said get on with it
but it will take a damn sight more than a Golf Tournament for me to do such a ludicrous thing
.Have just been to the Newsagents via the School run and i se that JC has put me in a spot of bother again, particularly in NZ, aah well we fight on.
Glad you were impressed with the boldness of me this week it’s amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it
, my aim has always been to please
.Have a good day buddy.
Adrian.
November 28, 2007 at 13:44 #127607Nothing beats live sport in my opinion – but it’s doing absolutely nothing for my good health.
Setting the alarm for 3 or 4 in the morning to watch golf in Australia or New Zealand, getting a few hours kip during the day, then watching the US Golf till midnight is not really my idea of a perfect schedule – but unfortunately time zones dictate and it’s what I have to do if I want to watch drives and the putts as they happen.
This week the golf is in New Zealand, for the aptly named ‘The New Zealand Open’. I remember about 6 or 7 years ago Michael Campbell winning about 34 tournaments in a row around this time of year and in these neck of the woods. Since then he somehow managed to win a US Open, but has been largely dissappointing. But back in his home country, this proven winner can go well at 16/1 in a weak line-up. My other selection in this field is an each way bet on Australian Jarrod Moseley at 80/1.
The Nedbank Challenge is one of my favourite tournaments for this time of the year, played on a brilliant course in Sun City where you can walk down the fairway accompanied by such creatures as alligators, snakes or lions. OK, a bit OTT, but if your not a golf fan, I would advise anyone to watch this event simply for the scenery.
So to my selections. Ernie is always a threat here, but he doesn’t seem to be the force he was a few years ago and I have to oppose him at his cramped odds. I also have to oppose Goosen and Stenson, who I simply can’t have as winners on their current form.
My main selections is Justin Rose, who I think will take a giant step forward in his golf after his last gasp Order of Merit win. He should take huge confidence from that and start playing without any pressure – 7/1 looks a good bet to me. I will also have a little bit on 2 outsiders, Stewart Cink at 22/1 and Niklas Fasth at 18/1. I think they are both over priced in a 12 runner field. How Fasth is a bigger price than Stenson, Goosen and Donald on this season’s form is beyond me.
Well that’s it from me. Good luck Adrian and Pete, aka Wakeman and Swallow Cottege – and good luck to anyone else having a bet this week.

November 28, 2007 at 14:17 #127611Hi again Mike, i had thought long and hard about your mate Niklas Fasth, as you have correctly said why is he six points at least longer that the likes of the one’s you have mentioned
, nothing against them personally of course, as they have been burdened with my capital in the past at somepoint or other, given current wellbeing he surely represents decent value.I can only presume that reputations are responsible for this and i suppose to a certain degree that is fair enough.
Well just of for a light lunch before part 2 of the School Run, gosh seems to have gone quick Today.
Catch up again later.
All the best for now
Adrian.
November 30, 2007 at 21:28 #128021Good evening again, well things not looking to bad in certain places for myself, Swallow Cottage and MikkyMo at half way, here’s hoping that we keep it up.
.Cheers for now .

Weird, I was just about to say the same thing

Well it’s all over in New Zealand (for me anyway) and I now know why Fasth was twice the price of some others
– but hopefully Justin can get the job done.Good luck Adrian and Pete, may your golfers be lucky.

December 3, 2007 at 17:20 #128599Excellent SC, I’ve just realised you put Trevor Immelman up as one of your selections.
I’m not saying that through gritted teeth either
, as I did lay Rose off when he was trading very low – well with the pair being 5 shots clear of the field at one stage, I would have been a fool not to.Well done, I hope you had a tidy sum on.
Mike
December 3, 2007 at 19:05 #128620Cheers Mike and I’m glad you made a profit by laying off your Rose bet. Trevor Immelman looked a bit nervous on the final few holes but it was good to see him win and it should be a big boost to his confidence and help him in future tournaments. Justin will hopefully get his first win on the USA tour next year but he does still have a problem when getting into serious contention in golf events even though he’s experienced it a few times and he looked very flustered on sunday.
Wakeman also backed Immelman so last week was a good one for all of us
December 3, 2007 at 19:37 #128630Oops, sorry Wakeman. As SC said, you also backed Immelman so the message of congratulations above goes out to you also. Well done mate.
Mike
