Good evening fellow comrades.
We’ll here we are once again another week upon us and what’s more one week closer to the Turkey’s, Christmas Pud Plenty of Brandy Sauce
for me and not forgetting the Mince Pies of course.Entrusted with hopefully helping out on that score this week will be this lot.
The first of Three Tournaments to have had the the rule run over it is the Nedbank Challenge and i have to say first that i’m somewhat surprised that Ernie Els is not in the field.
Over the last few months Sergio Garcia has enjoyed something along the lines of an Indian Summer and is certainly a worthwhile favourite here, but regular viewers will know that at such odds available at the moment i will not be partaking.
After there success in the World Cup last week Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson will be my main source of attention here in the hope that they are still in the same mood this week, granted in effect i am backing coupled odds of around 3/1 which is not a great deal more than Sergio outright i do however have two going into bat instead of one.
It will i think seem odd to Pete that having passed them over last week why am i backing them this week, at present i can’t answer that.
My final choice for this will be Miguel-Angel Jimenez who along with Pablo Larrazabal very nearly pulled of a win for me via Spain last week but unfortunately caught messrs Stenson and Karlsson in a ruthless and determined mood, if it has not left it’s mark at the odds available in places i feel Miguel merits consideration here.
Ok back down under next for the second round of the Australian Swing and the Australian PGA Championship.
First thing to say here is i think we may have a false favourite in Robert Allenby given his failure yet again to close out a Tournament when in with a chance of winning and along with Stuart Apppleby’s tame effort will be swiftly despatched to room 101, so it will be sods law now that one of them rubs our noses in it.
By process of elimination the other two at the head of the market will be going into bat for me this week those being Geoff Ogilvy and sorry Pete, Adam Scott granted with the last named he has to put behind him a poor showing last time again the coupled odds of around 4/1 may not seem too inspiring but as with the Nedbank i have two going into battle.
Having backed him last week and but for a wretched Third round Tim Clark could have emerged victorious, he will once again be fighting my corner in the hope of getting his head in front this time.
My final choice for this again after having a good World Cup for the Baggy Greens will be Richard Green in the hope that he can continue where he left off at Mission Hills.
Last but by no means least we have the Nippon Series JT Cup and here i think it’s a case of better the devil you know so time to be boring folks as first up to the plate here will be our old friend Jeev-Milkha Singh who also has been on a good run recently, here’s hoping i am not left with just the Curry Sauce
come Sunday. My Final two for this begin firstly with a chap that has i believe tasted success in this neck of the woods before the Gent in question David Smail and one of the home brigade who i feel can have a say in matters, Hideto Tanihara, here’s hoping a crash course in Sumo Wrestling
is not required come the conclusion of events here.Well that wil do it for me for now, so as always the Best Of Luck to those partaking.
Cheers.
Adrian.
December 2, 2008 at 04:17 #193679Good luck to Adrian and anybody else betting on the golf this week

It’s the Nedbank Challenge which takes place in South Africa and there are only 12 players competing which gives me a better chance than normal of finding the winner
I expect one of the top 5 in the betting to win. Sergio Garcia is the favourite and is in excellent form but his odds are too short for my liking. Lee Westwood has a chance but he is one of those players that I never bet on.
I am going to back both of the Swedish players who won the World Cup for their country last week. Robert Karlsson has been playing good golf all year and he could continue his good run here and whilst Henrik Stenson has not won a strokeplay event for nearly 2 years, it could be that he will have gained confidence from his part in Sweden’s victory in China and therefore follow up with a win this week.
Trevor Immelman is the defending champion and this will be his first event in his native country since winning the Masters which may bring a lot of pressure and expectation but he does know this course very well so I’ve placed a small covering bet on him at 10/1 which means that I’ll break even if he does win again here.I’m going for a hat trick of wins in Japan and the Nippon Series JT Cup only has 27 players taking part…….if only golf fields were like this every week
I am betting again on Prayad Marksaeng to win as he enjoys playing in Japan and my other choice is the japanese teenager Ryo Ishikawa who is forecast by many to have a great future in the game but will probably only do so if I don’t back him regularly. The field for the Australian PGA Championship includes many players I have never heard of and this event must be an excellent opportunity for Geoff Ogilvy to win his first professional tournament in his native country. I was going to bet on Adam Scott but he has withdrawn from the event after hurting his knee so I’m going with Geoff Ogilvy and BF odds of 9/1 look reasonable for a player of his ability in this weakish event. Richard Green is my next pick and he played well at the Volvo Masters and again at the World Cup last week. I’m giving another chance to Tim Wilkinson and having given up betting on Tim Clark some months ago, I’ve decided to back him this week because he did play well last week in the Australian Masters and he looks worth another chance.
Happy punting

Pete
