I didn’t catch this but I’m getting reports of lizards gagging Big Mac when he broke the taboo of speaking out about this scandalous racket. Can anyone fill me in on what happened?
January 3, 2009 at 19:26 #201291As he began his pitch you could hear someone yawning and the camera switched to the others and the woman presenter was resting her head on Francome’s shoulder pretending to have gone to sleep. Then the rest just drowned out anything Mac was trying to say. It’s difficult to know their motives other than they possibly have heard it voiced so often.
January 3, 2009 at 19:31 #201292I think it was simply a case of them feigning boredom at hearing the big lad on one of his hobby horses rather than an attempt to stifle the issue. Alice Plunkett and John Francome are more horsey than gambling so inevitable that SP debate might not rock their boat.
January 3, 2009 at 19:36 #201295Unfortunately for luvvie Alice and John, most viewers are gambling orientated than horsey so the subject is more relevant than whether Nicky Henderson leaves anything to work on 1st time out, jesus how much is she getting paid for this Paxman style grilling.
Keep on keeping on Mac – it is appreciated in some quarters.

What was Tanya Stevensons excuse? Never slow to defend bookies, her silence regards the imposed premium charge by Betfair was also deafening for a so called betting exchange "expert".
January 3, 2009 at 21:31 #201321Its very sad to see this.
Bluntly it is time the horsey set realized the gambling public subsidize their fun and a display of that nature is not welcomes or appreciated by many.
Poor display of class by all concerned.

January 4, 2009 at 00:15 #201359Can’t see what Alice Plunkett brings to the Morning Line to be honest – thought her intervention was a disgrace. Mac may be a comedy act on many things but on the SP issue as with most things betting-related he is bang on the mark.
January 4, 2009 at 02:45 #201398Here, here – Big Mac may be an arse (purposely) 50% of the time but he talks sense 50% of the time – which is more than can be said about most, in my opinion of couse.
Apologies – didn’t realise that version of backside was an expletive!
January 4, 2009 at 04:50 #201423Indeed, mentioning SP’s in an embarrassingly truthful manner could fall foul of the anti-terror laws, or worse.
As for Tanya and the Betfair’s Premium Tax .. it’s looking more and more like she’s winging it, has anybody actually checked if that laptop is switched on?
January 4, 2009 at 06:17 #201430Given the choice of this lot for an hour or only Big Mac – I’d take Big Mac, every time.
Paddy Power knocked back my £0.37 bet.
January 4, 2009 at 13:53 #201451I didn’t see the programme but I can’t stand Alice Plunkett I think she’s rude and doesn’t strike me as a very nice person and I doubt she’s the type of person I would get on with as she irritates me like hell. As soon as I saw the "woman presenter" thing I knew it would be her that was behaving as described.
Further more she brings absolutely nothing to C4’s coverage and Mac has forgotten more than she will ever know.
Bin her C4 for gods sake.
January 4, 2009 at 15:35 #201462dont know if big mac was having us on but it seems his home was burgled and if anyone has had that done, they will realise how upsetting it is, and all they did was laugh, and cutting him dead on sp issue was out of order,i am not a big mac fan but he does shout for the punter, and he does a lot for retired racehorses

To be fair he was making light of it himself really.
January 4, 2009 at 18:06 #201503Me thinks there is still a need for the likes of Tommo. You have to admit it brings a bit of entertainment value even if it is just to take the p** out of him
January 4, 2009 at 18:14 #201509I trust it wasn’t your good self writing under a pseudonym in the RP letters page today eulogising about Thommo.
Mind you as soon as I say that Clod Duval was guesting on ATR’s Sunday Forum that gave me as good a reason as any to change channels.
He makes Thommo look like a genius!January 4, 2009 at 19:45 #201531I didn’t see the programme but I can’t stand Alice Plunkett I think she’s rude and doesn’t strike me as a very nice person and I doubt she’s the type of person I would get on with as she irritates me like hell.
Usually pretty amenable, clued-up and friendly when I’ve observed her at point-to-point meetings, mind.
