Ouch!
Real shame that, hats off to paddypower and boylesports and any others who refund bets!
Still think Midday would have beat Sariska on that ground, all the vibes from Sariska’s connections were that they thought Midday would come out on top…

Can’t take any credit for backing the winner and feel really sorry for those who backed Sariska but that was a class performance.
Surely with Harbinger gone Henry must consider running her in the Arc if the ground is ok?
August 19, 2010 at 14:52 #313609Hmmm strange…just reflecting back to after she won the Middleton at York, Jamie Spencer said "it was the firmest ground I have ever ridden on at a major meeting".
Had a pretty hard race at Epsom against a good colt and then in the meantime tried to kick her trainer into space at home.
Maybe she is feeling the effects of the Middleton…hard to tell with 4yo mares they seem more prone to temperament than other groups…don’t know if that is backed up by the stats.
Great shame anyway.August 19, 2010 at 15:25 #313619Horses can make fools of the sturdiest of men(and women).
Was nice to see Midday win a nice Group 1, genuine animal that she is. Was a shame about Sariska as on paper this was the race of the meeting.

Henry said Arc very unlikely. Doesn’t want to bottom her. Would rather she went down the Prix V, Opera, Breeders route. He sees no reason to take on the colts and is happy for her to be best of her sex.
I layed Sariska and backed Zarebiya so it’s one all for the day. At least Zarebiya eventually jumped away and gave some hope of bailing out.
August 19, 2010 at 16:10 #313626Well done winner finders, a very taking performance.

The ups and downs of racing.jamie Spencer must have fancied his chances of riding adouble but must be as sick as a parrot…….One plants itself in the stalls and the other one cracks her skull against the stalls.
I can see where Henry is coming from and can’t say I blame him for taking the easier looking route and as someone pointed out the owner has Byword in the Arc.
Aparrently Gosden said he thought Midday would come out on top today despite what the betting market was saying……..That indicates they thought Sariska wasn’t 100% today. You could put that down to her being trained for the Arc but there would be plenty time have her spot on today, rest her and have her spot on for the Arc.
I think our Sariska may have become a bit of a madam and is a problem horse….she was somewhat lucky in the Oaks, won a weird race at the Curragh then really every race she has run since has been dissapointing in comparison.
I reckon if they keep her racing they will devalue her and should take the money and run
August 19, 2010 at 17:33 #313638Interesting that the trainer said the stalls are right next to the entrance to the stables at York, and she knows the place very well.
August 19, 2010 at 21:43 #313673Still in shock what happened to Sariska, been backing her for this for a while now. Absolutely sickener.
Then went with Aga Khan in the next
August 19, 2010 at 23:32 #313695I’d heard Sariska was playing up and that’s why I place layed her and become a very rich man.
So you saw Sariska playing up before you posted at 13:58pm? Do you work for Mr Bell?
August 21, 2010 at 23:28 #314126i really really hope the ground turns up soft v.soft at the arc. then we may see the true sariska. think how she murdered midday at the curragh, and think of her running on the same ground in the arc, and tell me you wouldn’t fancy her to win, or get a place.

I shall forgive your Profound Beauty will win the Arc statement as over zealous! She will win the Irish St Leger,i keep telling you!

Chelters, Paddy Power go 5/1 about your filly for the Irish St Leger this weekend,if she runs she wins!

Certainly looks a Dermot Weld 1-2 as the only danger would appear to be Rite Of Passage but on a line through Age Of Aquarius she looks to have the beating of him and the trip will suit her best of the two, I assume Pat Smullen will know which one to ride.
Rite Of Passage is set to conceed 7 lbs in The Melbourne Cup
I’d expect Joshua Tree to beat the rest if he runs but he’d find the Doncaster Leger a more realistic and more achievable target, in fact I’d earmarked him for that race since his seasonal debut.
I can feel a double coming onSeptember 6, 2010 at 22:28 #316242Smullen will have to ride Profound Beauty if she runs Ken, retained by Moyglare
