Interesting game between Japan and Spain. Japan gone from 1-0 down to 2-1 up. That second goal was a fine line but absolutely brilliant. Hope they qualify from this or it’ll be kamikaze for them otherwise.

The only surprise is that Sushi is only two-one up!
More soy sauce for Chezza please!
Omg Costa Coffee just went two-one up against Germany!
What a “levelling up” World Cup!

If you have control of the var room you have a free betting account.
All you have to do is watch the goal Japan were allowed tonight and know without question it is happening.December 1, 2022 at 21:17 #1625341It was a goal – the ball didn’t go out of play.
The whole of the ball has to go over the line, not just the earthed part you can see the other side of the white line.

December 1, 2022 at 21:40 #1625345Disagree about Match fixing, the second Japanese goal was millimetres from crossing the whole of the line before being rescued and converted into a goal. That was my opinion life.

Both you don’t have to be either to know the goal WAS a goal.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"December 1, 2022 at 22:00 #1625347Before goalline technology there was commonsense. There is daylight between the ball and the field of play, not millimeters, centimeters, maybe even inches. Forget the curvature of the ball. On the touchline it is out, it is the same field of play.
I’m delighted for Japan they kept playing.
I’d prefer the game to be controlled by the match officials not the wizard of oz.
We’ll see after the tournament what has been going on. (Imo).December 1, 2022 at 22:08 #1625348Fair do’s Ian you are a ref!!
Heres how you need to explain it to me.
Ian explains goalline technology to SamDecember 1, 2022 at 22:18 #1625349Japan’s players were delirious, their subs on the pitch, only for the goal to be ruled out by the referee, Victor Gomes of South Africa, the ball having apparently gone out of play as Mitoma kicked it. Of course the gods of VAR deliberated – aided by the positional sensor in the Al Rihla ball – and they found the goal was good. The ball had stayed in by fractions, people’s fancy dress headdresses were coming off in disbelief.
This paragraph from Guardian is what I was saying before.

Think of the white line as a three-dimensional wall – it rises into the sky because football isn’t just played on the ground, the pitch area is three-dimensional.
For the ball to be out of play, all of the ball must be so far beyond the wall no part of it is in contact with it.
There is an aerial shot on Twitter which clearly shows that not all of the entire ball is over the line – it’s an airspace thing.
Hope that helps!

Mine too Father Ted was brill, shame he Dermot Morgan died just after the completion of the final series.
Use the clip shown by Sam in a different way to argue my point to those who believe in a Flat Earth, which I was surprise by in this day and age.

Had that been a couple of metres 90 degrees to the right we’d be talking about a no goal by the finest of margins despite ‘evidence’ that it was ‘in’, as the Law is the same there. I wonder if there would be the same squealing about it from Spain and Germany fans then? You can’t have it both ways.
December 2, 2022 at 13:07 #1625380This is the beauty of soccer; the scoring method encourages unpredictability. In every other team game, the stronger team will almost always win; e.g, in rugby, if the stronger team aren’t scoring tries, they will be getting penalties. But in soccer it’s all or nothing
