When the rats start exiting stage right you know the game’s up.

Hoodwink waves goodbye to Hills, citing the declining profile of horse racing as the main reason.

Wilkins has left Victor as well. Interesting times.

No surprise with Wilkins really. A decent man and a horse player through and through.

It must have been difficult working for someone like Chandler whose horse owning and racing fanatic father must have been spinning in his grave since his son became one of the first bookmakers to decamp to Gibraltar, in the process metamophosising from benevolent leech to laughing parasite.

If, in the catastrophic aftermath of a sinking ship, there was a desperate race toward my teeming lifeboat between Chandler and a bubonic plague infected rat, the rodent wins every time.

My sentiments are similar about Topping (I truly, truly wish he would), though Hood’s departure is probably worse news for Greyhound Racing than our sport. He did wonders at Wimbledon this year and his work at Sunderland is gaining rave reviews.

Heard today that another couple of Racing journalists have been let go by their respective employers (and no – I won’t be posting specific details before anyone asks)

Absolutely no doubt this industry is undergoing a serious contraction at the moment on all fronts. I sincerely hope it isn’t a terminal decline…
