Looks like a book that’ll be worth having a look at.
Pat Naylor’s life story disclosed, never thought I’d live to see the day. Patrick Veitch is listed as the author. Presumably he’s the ghost writer or biographer.
April 4, 2009 at 17:20 #220276Arrived this morning. Haven’t had much of a chance to read it yet, but at first glance, it appears to be a better-written, better structured and higher class version of Nevison’s efforts.
April 5, 2009 at 20:19 #220504Where did you get it from? everywhere I look says it isn’t released yet
April 5, 2009 at 23:19 #220536Ordered it via the Racing Post site last week. Was surprised to find it on my doormat on Saturday.
About half way through it by now, though I have skimmed ahead and read some of the more interesting passages. It is better organised and more clearly written than Nevison’s effort. Still it isn’t quite one thing or the other: neither full and frank autobiography nor in depth betting guide. Can’t help feeling that there is enough material here to make a really gripping read, a cult classic and potential sportsbook prize winner. He might have been better off making extensive notes, handing the thing over to a proper writer and giving them carte blanche to come up with something more exciting.
Still, on balance, so far it is okay.
