Well they got their answer with Le Brivido. He was a silly price today and I couldn’t have backed him at the 6F trip.

Hopefully sense prevails now and it’s the Lockinge. I can’t understand the 6F thinking really, he was a short head second in the French Guineas on soft ground after all.

    Bad bit of placing today.

I see Boylesports go 10/1 Le Brivido for the Lockinge, that’s an over reaction and I’d take some of that.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Very poor, couldnt have him for the lockinge or for this, id be cautious of him going forward.

I would too Steve, even his Ascot win indicated a bit of stamina too. 1 mile for me is ideal.

French do like their preps, but coming to England youd expect they were aiming to win that.

It was the wrong race for him today, Brando is a classy sprinter. You can’t expect a miler to beat sprinters in a slowly run race. Keiren Fallon observed that Le Brivido was the last horse to come off the bridle but he just couldn’t quicken enough against good sprinters.

That was also Le Brivido’s 1st run since the Jersey Stakes.

Not many horses have been equally effective at both 6F and a mile. He’ll be a different proposition over 2F further.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

why would you be cautious of him going forward? is it because of his injuries? because even watching that you can see he has an engine( just hope the engine don’t blow up) and he will be in the mix wherever he goes next,if staying sound

Id like to have seen a bit more today nwalton, yes first run after an injury but they could have found a cosy race in france for him, which tells you he was brought for the purpose of winning today and id be surprised if he wasnt atleast 90% today, form of his jersey win is rotten and the form of his french guineas second is rotten, the proximity to brametot people will take as a positive, but brametots style of running and obviously suited to further flatters le brivido slightly. For me anyway.

Trainer believed 6f should be better suited than 8f which also going forward really bothers me, trainers get it wrong, of course, but i find it hard to believe he was THAT wrong

Id be concerned about how much abillity he retains and id also be concerned if theyll bother to send him over for the lockinge in general…much more likely to appear at RA but even then, ill have my worries.

Fabre is a master trainer, but I couldn’t get his comments. This is a horse that got up close home in the Jersey and was only beaten a SH in a classic, when running green. I would not try to preach to a legend in the racing game, but really think Le Brivido is a 7/8f performer.

I backed Le Brivido today (always a small bet for the early season races thankfully though) at 11/4 but knew my fate within about 10 seconds of the start. When it dawned on me that he was running over the wrong trip and they were going so slow anyway.

Kicking myself for only looking at his class and backing him entirely on that element.

He’ll be better over a mile surely but this is an awful year of older milers. Something will have to come across from abroad for this (asides from Le brivido) or this could be the worst Queen Anne of all time.

    Agree Nwalton.

Ham- form might be stink but he raced against the pace bias, and won with a bit in hand iMO in the Jersey.

It is a worry his layoff no doubt and its possible he wont return the same but without a doubt for me he should be given another chance. Fabres horses have been running stink and whilst, you’d imagine he would’ve been fitter travelling to England. Who knows for sure as the ground in France hasn’t been great.

Personally think te race choice today wasn’t ideal but i guess as mentioned above, we can’t really be over critical as he’s a master.

I wouldn’t be at all concerned with Le Brivido’s run. The trip was too sharp for him, and to me it stunk of a classic French prep run. He’ll come on bundles for that, I’m sure.

As much as it looked like a prep, the money that came for him says otherwise. 11/4 into 5/4 isn’t easily done on these TV races I wouldn’t have thought.

However saying that it would be very un-characteristic of Coolmore to buy into a horse for it to then flop badly in it’s stallion defining season. They are proven to know the time of day 99% of the time.

In short of the above, yesterday’s run is very hard to weigh up and I’m looking forward to seeing him hopefully step up NTO.

I see Boylesports buckled under the weight of my £10 on Le Brivido at 10/1 for The Lockinge and cut him to 6/1. No need to panic Boylesports, I couldn’t score in a brothel this season.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

    Addeybb looked superb today.

I would have him favourite at this point for the Queen Anne on the back of that display.

he is certainly going the right way and what with the older milers not looking up to much, would have to go with a chance. One possible negative is if it came up rattling quick.

Addeybb did that nicely but it was a rag tag bunch he beat. A Lincoln winner going into a Group 2 as favourite told some of the tale about the strength of the field.

There were a good few horses very much on the downgrade in that race, so even though it was a good performance, it wouldn’t have taken a group 1 horse to see them off.

Haggas certainly sneaked him into the Lincoln with a stone in hand of his field though. Take a bow William.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

But the thing is Steve, what will he have to beat in the QA?

It’ll be a Group 2 standard field with one or two exceptions. He’s one for Royal Ascot early multiples in my opinion.
