Ok… I strongly fancied Sir Rembrandt as I thought he was thrown in off a light weight.
Now that he is gone, Im far less certain about any of the rest of these.
Ross Comm.. Looks a good horse with little weight. Certain to stay??????????? Im not sure.
Direct Access….His form looks useful. He is by Roselier and they tend to stay and stay strongly. I like him but he might not quite have enough class.
Like you DJ, I like this horse, Lord of Illusion but he has run poorly enough on three of his four days out this year.
Le duc and haut de gamme could both run well but perhaps the latter will stay better. If Le Duc stayed, I would fancy him very very strongly.

April 8, 2006 at 10:09 #71122STrange momement Clivex when you and I actually agree on something. Will you still be having a bet?? I kinda feel like I have to.
And the way things have been going with the last week, I couldnt pick my nose without sticking a finger in my eye. :(

April 8, 2006 at 10:17 #71123Found it a bit difficult narrowing it down and I’m not backing Hedgehunter or Clan Royal: both short prices, and I think Hedge has too much weight and another excuse I made for not backing CR is that there are more 9 and 10 yos who win the race, and he’s 11.
Therefore I have:
Joes Edge
Lord of Illusion
Ross Comm
Direct Access
I also had Nil Desperandum and Ballycassidy on my EW shortlist. Not sure where my money’s going yet though :o
April 8, 2006 at 10:33 #71124I am trying to talk myself into thinking that Nil Desperandum has an E/W chance at big odds
If I leave it alone it will get placed but back it then it will fall at the 1st……Hedgehunter has too much weight for me to be interested , possibly Clan Royal can win but McCoy ???…….I do like Garvivonnian and Numbersixvalverde…..Juveigneur and Ross Comm are others with a good chances so I am still confused…..maybe several small bets but nothing outstanding for me this year to go in heavy to back
April 8, 2006 at 10:50 #71125I dreamt of Garvivonnian last night…whether that means something or not is another thing!
April 8, 2006 at 11:17 #71126Your dream tickled me pink !
April 8, 2006 at 11:32 #71127deleted the following for being French bred
Innox…Clan Royal…Juveigneur…Haut De Gamme
deleted Colnel Rayburn because not won over further than 3 miles
deleted Numbersixvalverde and Jack High for being hold up horses and usually the winner comes from those that run prominently
left with……….
Lord of Illusion
Ebony Light
Garvivonnian
Nil Desperandum
Direct Access
April 8, 2006 at 12:13 #71128I wouldnt begrudge Garvivonian EC. I backed at 80’s the when he won last time over the track and I have to admit he wasnt stopping that day either. Not sure it was a great race. Might be better at this trip even…
Ive had a small flutter ew on Direct access, Ross comm and Tyne and Tyne again but to frank, Im completely Mug Punting.

April 8, 2006 at 13:18 #71130I wouldnt begrudge Garvivonian EC
strange comment?
Harry, do you begrudge anyone else the winner?
Irish used expression meaning I would like to see him win. :)

April 8, 2006 at 14:45 #71131
Looks like hard work on the ground so far today, so I’ve backed Direct Access who’s a big strong sort that should handle the conditions and only has 10-6 to carry.

April 8, 2006 at 17:25 #71132
Did you have anything on Mesh ?

The horse had a nightmare
but the reason for my pink colour
was the fact that quite a few of the lads
call Garvy by his pet name of gamble.
My Lacklustre preparation
Grand National eve…
Three cold crones carefully consumed
after two pieces of bacon covered bargain chicken
with reduced organic cabbage, leek, new potties, and some petty peas. Cost £1.09 plus gas.
I pulled up the winged armchair
(I eat at a table)
after watching a natural programme about
criminality among elephants. In India they are
tiptoeing into village huts with murder on their minds.
They’re leathering people for mating like rabbits
and cheekily doing it in their back gardens
Anyway I switched off the menace at about 11
and my mind was particularly blank
as I reached into my medicine cupboiard
for some red ruin to take me into the earlies.
I rarely mix drinks and it was a bigger mistake
than Mesh’s dream, for in just over 12 hours
a highly sober Prince Philip would be staring at me
with some disdain for my decrepit look.
Hiss Bentley crept by me and we oggled each other peculiarly;
me sitting on grass in a heap while he purred on finest calf leather.
back…
At 2 am I removed my nose from the ceiling
and unwrapped my brain from the grass of Aintree.
where it was lodged in a cold temperature
with one eye looking on
while the other stargazed the heavens
in wonderment at my lack of form.
No inspiration this year !
I’ve lost it.
Two rang me around midday for my prog
nostication but I informed them I was as blank
as the pilot’s prayer who took over American airways flight 11
just before it smitherinnnned the first tower.
I tinkered in the dark but had a failrly heavy
place only bet on the hedge at just under 13/8
which will carefully place the armchair back in its rightful place
in the centre of the war area.
Maw’n paw rang just before the race.
I’ve got nothing for you,
but do the hedge he’ll give you a good ride for
your money.
I put the bet on for them :shhhh
I munched nervously through half a packet of
digestives as Aintree lived up to its glory of :old:

April 8, 2006 at 17:51 #71133I think you forgot to take your medication again Gamble.
April 8, 2006 at 17:55 #71134
Pegleg
I will be on it tonight
April 8, 2006 at 20:42 #71135You seem to have lost your – Lord Of Illusion National Winner- signature DavidJohnson. Apparently it bled from the nose.
April 8, 2006 at 22:14 #71136I have just had a rather uninspiring cod fish supper
which rather came second
It accompanied Crash which was too moralistic
for a Saturday night
and possibly also came second.
Enjoyed some chocolate mousse cartons
and now I am on crone
My Nationals are rather ritualistic
and copy the style of the chicken and hot bath I have at Easter.
I bumped into a lampost this morning -
only the second time it has happened to me,
but it rather put the stamp on the day.
It was the reason I was lying in Kensington Gardens rather recovering myself
when the Bentley or Roller passed me at about 2 mph.
with the famous nose in it.
Not finding any inspiration from my late night chair work
and not prepared to do much leg work in the racing post
I ended up with Ross Comm and I had a touch on Mesh’s dream,
purely because I was tickled pink.
Mesh is one of the more logical contributors on here
and I rather liked the way she suddenly slipped into night attire, and that’s why I followed her.
The hedge was my smart logic on a fuddled hungover day.
I really like the horse I rubbished on a golf forum not long ago.
flatcapgamblle… Quiddawitch you owe him  HAPPY DAYS
