February 18, 2009 at 01:50 #210794Eclipse and Seabiscuit ?
You,like everybody else have gone for some fine horses.
There must be something more clear cut?? A horse that gave the impression of great (or goodness) but got found out.
Or are we talking about horses with official ratings that we, for whatever paranoid reason dont believe in?
ok…enough already. Ill go for MASTER MINDED!!!

Just didn’t cut the mustard when push came to shove.
February 18, 2009 at 01:59 #210799Actually you could argue it is Preists Leap in this year’s National. Criminal rating although connections were quite happy. Go figure!

Of all time, the questioner asked.
I require hard visual evidence of Eclipse’s true ability. I’ll ask the big white haired bearded fella if he can furnish me with a video of his wins when I enter the pearly gates – as I surely will.
Still not convinced he beat anything other than old arthritic ponies and chargers.
Seabiscuit, though gutsy, beat a load of moderate handicappers and earned his spurs, so to speak, by beating a triple crown winner – not at his best – in a match.
Actually, GWilson beat me to another that comes to mind – Hawk Wing.

February 18, 2009 at 02:09 #210804At the moment I’m finding it hard to believe that there’s not one of Mill House, Flyingbolt and Arkle who would be inferior to Master Minded given strength of competition these days, the larger pool of horses etc
So given I can’t decide which one it is I’ll go for one that will likely annoy the older members of the racing community who generally have an orgasm when something carries more than 11-10 to win a handicap and for the moment side with Denman as the most overated.
Other than him then Rhinestone Cowboy.
