I
thought
Harald Bluetooth was the first contender of note!
Unfortunately, he is now out for six months.
February 15, 2009 at 03:32 #210292I see "SWOP" has been supported for this years Linclon, a very capable horse that has scope for further improvement, unfortunately i am still haunted by the ride Richard hughes gave him in the Cambridgeshire!!
I also doubt wether Mr Cumani can get a horse ready for a race so early in the season! I cant remember him ever getting one ready for the guineas either!February 15, 2009 at 06:06 #210311I see "SWOP" has been supported for this years Linclon, a very capable horse that has scope for further improvement, unfortunately i am still haunted by the ride Richard hughes gave him in the Cambridgeshire!!

I cant have Swop for this
February 15, 2009 at 06:38 #210313Would you automatically reject any horse that is currently being campaigned in Dubai?
Docofthebay is still being spotted on my radar. Hampered over 10f a couple of days ago. Seems to handle Gd to Sft. Won’t bother having a bet until the 5 day stage.
February 15, 2009 at 12:53 #210318Why reject any horse being campaigned in Dubai?
Race-fit and hardened up strong against worldly competition, transfers into a traditional race full of dour handicappers who are just waking from their Winter slumber.
A Lincoln runner won’t be good enough for Dubai World Cup night I assume, and maybe not for Super Thursday either. If it’s time that is the concern, IMO it isn’t at all.
Would find it very hard to be interested in any Sir Michael or Luca horses in March/April.
February 15, 2009 at 15:34 #210352Kings Point 33/1 – dont ask me how i know…….
February 15, 2009 at 15:37 #210353Other horses in Dubai at the moment are
RM Beckett’s Without A Prayer – 3rd to Halicarnassus over 10f
D Nicholls’ Royal Power – 3rd in Royal Hunt Cup, missed end of last year, 2 disappoining runs in Dubai, followed by 4th on Dirt.
D Nicholls’ Jack Junior
MR Channon’s Eva’s Request – 3rd to the impressive Deem.

and
Docofthebay
are my two fancies at this early stage.
The former is progressing nicely for John Gosden and completed a hat-trick at the end of last season in very impressive fashion. On his final start he defeated Suits Me by 3L. That horse has since claimed a four-timer in the process of winning five of his next six starts.
He demonstrated enough potential to suggest he could be a Group horse at some stage this season.
Docofthebay was an incredibly consistent 3YO in big handicaps. He ran with credit in big, competitive fields at Goodwood, York, Ascot and Newmarket, where he finished second to Pipedreamer in the Cambridgeshire.
He finished second in the Royal Hunt Cup last season and I think Jamie Osbourne made a big mistake running him in the Buckingham Palace Stakes two days later because the horse hasn’t been the same since.
He sported blinkers for the first time at Royal Ascot and run very well. They have been left off on his last four starts and it will be interesting if they are reapplied for the Lincoln.
February 15, 2009 at 23:02 #210428I get what youre saying about Swop guys but if he runs in this he’ll of been on the go for 10 months straight. Granted, he hasnt been heavily campaigned but he hasnt had a proper break for almost a year.
If I’m honest, I’ll go as far to say I’ll doubt he’ll even run.

I don’t understand this. They are currently 2 of the 3 best trainers in the land at the moment (Michael Jarvis being the other) and whilst I’ll acknowledge that neither are really firing is March judged by previous years, but given their skills, should it suit them to get one ready for the Lincoln, then they are very much in the best of hands, as Stream of Gold in 2005 showed.
February 16, 2009 at 02:28 #210465Most of the potential winners of this years Lincoln were sold to race in Dubai, the few 4 year olds with a progressive profile stick out.
Gosdens pair and Swop would have obvious and big chances for me.
Huzzah may have an outside chance and will prob come for B.Hills Doncaster money towards the race so wouldnt be a bad ante post bet.
Have to wait until July to get some depth to the handicaps, once the 3 year olds join in.
February 16, 2009 at 05:46 #210487I’m still hesitant David. That goes from Classic horses to the older stock.
February 20, 2009 at 02:29 #211255Interesting. Swop wins tonight at Nad Al Sheba. Presumably he’s picked up a penalty for the Lincoln?

Does anyone know if Swop could go for anything on DWC night? This would obviously be a big stumbling block to him taking up his Lincoln entry
Showed his impressive turn of foot tonight
Still dont fancy him for the Lincoln though

I don’t think they have anything but pattern races on World Cup night so unless they think he’s got a ton of improvement in him, he won’t be aimed there, but you never know with Luca. But with 50k a race just in the handicaps over there, will they not try to pick up a pot or two more before he leaves?
February 21, 2009 at 18:18 #211537Luca’s put up a few question marks today about Swops participation.
Says he doesnt even know when Swop will be coming back and even then theres a tonne of questions to answer before he lines up
He wont be in the Lincoln chaps. Guarantee it
