I wouldn’t lose all hope yet Raymo, the only winner I had in this race was Brae Hill three years ago…..out of none other than stall 12 :-)

If the rain comes I will be changing from Hillbilly Boy to Gabrial’s Kaka….. It has rained non stop in Manchester all morning, not sure of the forecast for Donny or if it has rained already ?

    Final thoughts on the race:-

Obviously it is a bit of a regret that I didn’t go in early on G M Hopkins at 16/1, who did me a few favours last year. He must go close if he’s in a going frame of mind (trainer states the horse is moody, bit like himself then)

Mange All never quite appealed as he was favourite from an early stage and no real value to my eyes.

The “Gabrial’s” have been well supported and we know the owner would love to lift this one. Gabrial seems better backed than Gabrial’s Kaka today.

Not much money for one of my horses Mondialiste today but that’s not surprising, given a profile of coming from France and being unfamiliar to most punters. I haven’t seen one tip for him anywhere and the gamble is that you are trusting David O’Meara to wring improvement out of this Galileo horse, I don’t think the draw was kind to him.

I would have liked it a bit faster for Baraweez but Brian Ellison thinks the horse is listed class potential and he made good improvement last year, 33/1 was OK in my mind for him.

Zarwaan is a bit weak in the betting today, he looked too short during the week and is probably getting to his true odds now. Not one for me.

Hillbilly Boy would have interested me a lot more at 7f, this strongly run mile might be a bit too far but good luck to his fans.

I wouldn’t put anyone off Moohaarib from a potentially good draw in 19, he seems a solid each-way option at 14/1.

    Caution fun Forecast

    G M Hopkins
    Moohaarib

Chuck in Garbrial’s Kaka for a speculative high numbers combo tricast.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Last year the winner and two of the placed horses had each had several runs at Meydan, as of course had Sweet Lightning when winning in 2011. On the basis that it should be no great surprise that good horses likely to be as fit as any in the field are likely to run well, it will be interesting to see how last year’s winner, Ocean Legend does this time (again he has had six runs in Meydan), and Belgian Bill (three runs). Last year’s 3rd, Robert The Painter, has also run at Meydan this year but only twice.

Quick glance before going out this morning Belguim Bill [?]Hillbilly Boy, Robert the Painter and Mondialiste but must remember my early season mantra which is backeverythingthathaggasruns. Never had a winner in this race so no bet. [afteriming here; Mooharib was on the list also]As was Gabrial…..had quickly picked out lower weighted C/D winners. Know someone on another forum following C/D winners at the moment and is doing very well.

I thought I had the winner with Mondialiste there for a moment. He was very weak in the betting today, as was the winner to a lesser extent but he did me proud and saw off a lot more fancied ones.

My other horse Baraweez ran well for a long way. I suspect 7f would suit him better, either fitness or stamina saw him fade late on.

Moohaarib ran well, as I had suspected, he didn’t half swerve across late on.

G M Hopkins was slowly away and never really got involved.

Pretty happy overall. Mondialiste well worth keeping an eye on next time and it’s nice to go against the grain and do better than those who daringly put up the favourite ante-post.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Pretty good efforts there Raymo, Between your Gabrial and my Mondialiste, we managed a forecast of almost £300 there.

I thought Belgian Bill was a silly price at 9/1, one of those Lemmings following the money affairs that keeps bookies in Rolls-Royce cars.

Well done Gabrial fans, he was napped by Robin Goodfellow in the Daily Mail today, so that’s him off to a flyer.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Mange All and GM Hopkins hugely disappointing. Are we saying the 6yo winner is just that much better or getting a horse spot on to win a Lincoln meant that much more to Fahey than it did to Haggas and Gosden? The winner might not win again all season but Koukash is unlikely to be too bothered.

I don’t know how a horse who was 5th in a 22 runner Handicap can be “hugely disappointing”, he’s run a great race on seasonal debut as far as I am concerned.

G M Hopkins was slowly away and has been described as moody by his trainer, anyone taking 6/1 in such a competitive race has only themselves to blame.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Mange All go out and win next time now that he’s put that promising run under his belt before April is upon us.

G M Hopkins could go either way and I wouldn’t back him next time.

Richard Fahey pulls that sort of result off all the time, he’s a “muck or nettles” type of trainer and if anything stank the place out today it was his other horse, Gabrial’s Kaka, who might as well have stood in his box munching hay today.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I think Mange All probably wants further and GM Hopkins was definitely moody having had a couple of bumps.
Fahey must have the thought the winner had ability considering what races it had ran in previously.

To me it looks like (apart from Mange All) the better fancied horse(according to the market)s are drawn high.Boom And Bust (20),will probably take them along stand side at a decent clip.Far side (low) Fire Ship may well be the pace angle there, while last years winner Ocean Tempest(10) usually races prominent.
I maybe biased, but happy with the pace stand side for my two picks,Gabrial and Gabrial’s Kaka
Dry,bright and windy since 9am yesterday, looks dry today, while a few light showers forcast tomorrow.Going could change back to good,GS in places if rain dont come

    GL

Nice start to first day of the turf season, along with Solow and a decent day, down hill from here

Chatez went up 7LB for his win in spring mile, puts him on 103 for Spring Cup at Newbury. Can he be competitive off that?

I will keep him onside(after the wind op) for the time being.

    Thoughts anyone?
