Did this person work for him in the eighties?
Hello
There is a woman who has started training race horses in New Zealand, who claims to have worked for the late Mr Nicholson.
Her name is Polly MacDonald but in the 80’s, she would have been known by her maiden name Schwerdt. She was a top eventer and her eventing credentials are not in doubt, however her racing ones are!
Is there anyone who can confirm if she did or did not work for Mr Nicholson.
Thank you

Seems quite likely – there was a Polly Schwerdt who was a regular competitor at the Badminton three day event in the 80’s. I only know this as I once shared a flat with a keen follower of that branch of the sport who used to drag me along to the cross country day every year.
For confirmation, you could contact the stable of Martin Keighley (info@martinkeighleyracing.com)as he probably worked there at the time and Mrs Nicholson is an owner with the stable.

April 19, 2010 at 10:28 #291136Are you an investigative reporter Curious Kiwi? If so and your apparent suspicions are realised I can just see the breaking news headline now…."POLLY FALLS OFF HER PERCH!…..shame of racehorse trainer who faked her C.V. ….warned off by Jockey Club."

No Ken, not a reporter, sorry

Just checking out the claim on behalf of a syndicate who are thinking of sending a horse to this woman to train.
Cheers and thanks for looking.
